I am going to Twickenham on the 24 April to watch Wasp v Bath. Ideally I
would like to have a drink or 2 so is easily accessible by train or tube?

Arrive the morning of the match. Drive by all means
Check in the B&B across the road from Twickers. Its not much but its a
bed and decentish breakfast.
Get wellied
Watch rugby
Continue to get wellied in Twickenham and Richmond
Stumble to the B&B
Sleep
Breakfast
Make your way home the next day in a leisurely manner (assuming blood
alcohol settled

Anyway thats what I do for internationals. Then again home is more
than 10,000 km away

Thanks Dave but I hopefuly will get a train if the railways is not on
strike. Be sods law that they are. I'm only 30 miles away from London and
the train is a lot cheaper than a grotty B&B besides I kinda like my own
bed.

A warning though. Not sure how full the game will be but for
internationals the trains are chaos after the game.
After the SA England game in 2006 two friends of mine took well over
an hour to get a train. The they had problems with connecting trains
etc.
The queues out of Twickers Station were horrendous

Dead easy by train from Waterloo or Reading direction. Tube to
Richmond also works with a reasonable walk from there - via a pub or
two if you wish

Get there 2 hours before and leave 2 hours after. Sorted.

Thats what they did. In fact they drank for about 3 hours after and
still they waited and waited.

When the queues are huge, it can often be better heading the other way on
the slow train, then turning around and coming back again.

That's certainly true for trains to/from London but going the other way is
much easier. Depending on where you are travelling from, a train to/from
Staines is a better bet than to/from Waterloo. The long queues after
internationals are for London trains. To get a Staines, Reading, etc. train
there is a separate entrance at the side (where you came out of the station
before the game). You might even find it quicker to get a train from
Twickenham to Staines then double back and get a train back to Waterloo if
that is where you are heading. Caveat - this split queue system might only
apply for internationals - I don't know.

I'm not so sure the queues will be all that bad. All the Bath contingent
will be getting the train the other way and changing at Reading.

Thanks I am coming from Aldershot so I will change at Ascot I guess. I just
hope they don't decide to strike that weekend or I will have to drive and
then I wont be able to drink.
