Lets wait and see, my guess is he'll get a week, as the judiciary will
need to be seen to do something to punish those bad bad men in black.

The only fair outcome would be to award the match to Wales.

Carter probably wasn't going to be picked against Italy so no big deal

Yes its about time Dan Carter was cited. He is a really dirty bastard

Blackhe would probably have been banned for life by now.

Further to my comment may I cite Law 10 e, doesn't matter where the tackle
starts

A player must not tackle (or try to tackle) an opponent above the line of
the shoulders even
if the tackle starts below the line of the shoulders. A tackle around the
opponent's neck or
head is dangerous play.

Right-on Lew and another beef by me ...

I am sick and tired of watching him kick those bloody goals etc. I would
rather see 'the game' being played - and fuck the stoppages.
It was meant to be a running passing game not oneof watching bloody goal
kicking [aka football].

Wonder why they didn't cite that lose forward prick who tried to take
Carters head off early in the game - he missed - but the Gatlin intent
was there.

I don't have a problem with him being cited. It was high so there's a
case to answer. I think we're all of the understanding he was going to
have a rest in the Italy match anyway, but for consistency sake I
can't see him being suspended.

As Roberts said; "Looking at the replay it did look quite high. He did
apologise to me. He said 'sorry for the tackle' after the game".

"Things like that happen in games, and you just have to take it on the
chin. It looked bad, but I was fine.

"Everyone has got their views and opinions, but as a player you just
get on with it. The referee makes decisions."

On the first viewing, it just looked like an awesome cover tackle.
Given Robert's comments and the fact he wasn't injured I doubt Carter
will be suspended. Then we can wait for the screaming from Wales to
reach fever pitch. To even suggest Joubert should've sent him off and
by not doing so cost Wales a victory is the utmost in lunacy. The TMO
kept Wales in the game.

Actually, it was you Poms who went ballistic about Shaw being sent
off. The Kiwis merely pointed out why it was a red card.

As for the BOD incident; again it was the Kiwis providing clarity to
the hysterical claims about spear tackles and deliberate, pre-
meditated actions. I also recall most stating they agreed both Umaga
and Mealamu should have been cited, but the South African citing
commissioner decided otherwise.

Schaulk Berger anyone? Anyone.....?

The whine from Berger not getting sent off and "costing the Lions
the game" because they faced 15 instead if 14 for the entire game
still echoes around these hallowed halls. Now someone else not getting
sent off has "cost us the game" again. The song remains the same.

You do know that a) you need to win ON the field and b) you need to
score tries rather than hope someone gets sent off?

Yes and exactly the point I have been making about citing and judicial
consistency

Whatever happens
* We would have seen worse incidents than the Carter high tackle *not*
even attract a citing
* We would have seen milder incidents than the Carter tackle attract a
tougher sentence than whatever Carter gets

Tackle and breakdown. The application is totally inconsistent.
Supporters from all sides claim that they are done in to a greater
degree than others.

I blame the process and not the bias of the Citing and Judicial
Officers

With modern technology a common panel (or a couple of panels) could
review incidents collaboratively and be more consistent.

The bit that is valid is what I pointed out here yesterday: that the citing
officer must deem the offence to have been worthy of a red card in order to
cite the player, and the notion that Carter's tackle could have been worth a
red card is risible.

Apart from that, I'm embarrassed to have read the article, especially the
strong implication that an Englishman shouldn't be hearing the case. It is
only a week since two cited All Blacks were judged by the brother of the
chairman of the NZRU.

I can't speak for others but my initial contribution to this thread was a
response to the ridiculous whining emanating from the Wales coaching bench.

As for "elevated for adjudication", an adjudication has already taken place.
As per regulation 17.6.2 the citing commissioner has already judged Carter's
tackle to have "warranted the Player concerned being Ordered Off".

The red card was rescinded after the match owing to an unauthorised
intervention by the television match official. Which of course is not the
same thing as saying that Shaw didn't commit a red card offence, but let's
not let facts get in the way.

I'm also happy to admit that I'm a little plastic Aussie, I've called

As laughable as the froth worked up over an incident where an English 10
never got to adjudication last year?

circumstances, offer my apologies for this ill-informed lapse.

Why, how rude. And then I remembered it's nothing personal - that
anything with a pulse and a rectum that is unavailable to you is a
"waste of flesh".

Yes, unfortunately, ever since Lord Clive of Whingingham and his Court
Jester Ali Campbell in 2005, too many teams are trying to win
advantage off the field rather than on it. This was a Kow Tow to the
off the field noise, plain and simple.

There's a lot of hot air about how the tackle "ends up".

The simple fact that even the biggest fanboi/AB hater should be able to
determine is that Carter did not go into that with malice
aforethought. The midget ducked into it and it slid up a bit. At no
point did Carter take him on the neck.

Nothing to answer.

But of course they suspended him for Italy so he can rest his calf some
more and appease the Boyos who would surely have won otherwise ... :-;
