Can anyone tell me if Ref!Link is in use at Lansdowne Road.
I bought it at Murreyfield last year and would like to use it again.

Yes but they change frequency for each match I think, so your old one
probably won't work - you could try though.

If you end up buying a new one, check the battery hasn't leaked. That's 2
out of 3 for me that didn't work.

Buy a decent personal radio and search out the frequency. (I recommend the
Sony at sterling 39.99)

I have a multimode scanner, what is the band they use? I guess it's 170-ish
MHz for the broadcast and 800-ish Mhz for the ref's gear. I assume it's
narrow-band fm??

96.6 MHz, if you've got your own radio.

That link is dead, but here's the 10 returns I got when searching...

There are currently 10 Sporting RSL broadcasters.

The following sporting RSLs will be on air during the dates shown. Football
RSLs broadcast from their stadium for home matches.

RSLs may not broadcast due to a variety of reasons.

Licences may be granted for coverage of a series of sports events at the
same site extending over a period longer than four weeks (e.g. football or
motor racing ?season?). These services will be licensed either on AM at 1
Watt e.m.r.p. or on FM at 300mW e.r.p. (for in-stadium coverage only). We
are unable to licence FM frequencies of normal quality or above 300 mW for
an extended RSL.

How clever you all are! I just took me radio along and keep twiddling the

The "RefLink" cardboard radios they sell are nothing more than simple medium
wave AM sets. The broadcasters set up a low powered standard AM station
that just relays the referees comments on that frequency. To that end - any
walkman or portable radio that can do medium wave will get reflink (these
are the things listed on the radioauthority link).

The referees, touch judges and 4th officials radios themselves use the radio
microphone band above TV carrier (search from 840 - 870MHz in Wideband FM
and you cant miss them). The signal is about 40KHz wide so NFM is
distorted. WFM a little quiet but perfectly audible, especially with a
earpiece.

Its worth noting if you own a scanner that even if reflink ISNT operating
the radios are still used on these bands, in Wales even non televised club
games have those in use.

Addition to my last post - the "newer" Reflink setups are actually a normal
VHF FM broadcast station in the 88-108 band as opposed to medium wave. Any
walkman should find it.
