Can anyone settle a debate in our house and give me some information about a
one-armed player from the 80s I think. Not sure, but he might have played
for Runcorn. My wife thinks it's a wind-up

Cheers.

No - you are dead right and he did play for Runcorn - I can't quite remember
his name. Tell your wife that Saints have lots of one eyed speccies as
well - that will add credence to your argument Steve!

Saint <m...@privacy.net> shat the following logs:

RLFANS is chocka with those one-eyed Saints fans and that includes two of
the owners ;-)

The player in question may have been the Aussie Kerry Gibson who had short
spells with Runcorn Highfield and Springfield Borough in 1987-88 despite
having only one arm.

Cheers,
Jeff.

Cheers Saint. I was wondering if he was any good despite the disability,
but if he was playing for Runcorn I kinda answered my own question.
Fantastic achievement though and the same goes for Barry McDermott for
achieving International honours despite his own disability.

Thanks Jeff. The name certainly rings a bell somewhere in there.

What about Doug Mountjoy?
Hell of an effort to achieve what he did in snooker with one eye.

Cheers,
Jeff.

Steve
There was a big black lad who played in the forwards for Sheffield Eagles
for several years in the 80's and when they got promtion in 1989. He was a
very good player actually and had a vice like grip on the ball and great
work rate.
His name is on the tip of my fingers..... I'll post it when I remember and
the alcohol haze clears later in the day.

if we are talking about the right Kerry Gibson, he is actually my grandfather..

he was a great footy player, infact he was about to make first grade only that he hurt his back at work which ended his career. he would have been the first man to make a first grade team missing a limb! i love my poppy !! he is a legend !

What about a Wigan player way back in the 60s I think, called Kia Bose (Figian?)who played the first few games barefoot. Quite a good kicker as far as I can remember.
cheers
