Possibly starts in London 2012 as a demonstration sport, mens and
womens comps. Full on in Rio 2016! Expect large $$ in Olympic funding
in countries such as China, USA, Brazil.

Sevens I believe. No doubt the GB team will field a team full of RL players
to show the 15-a-side wallers how to play - lol.

An interesting point John. Will RL players be eligible for selection
or would they have to be affiliated to a RU club first? A great
opportunity for the RFL to gain lots of publicity by kicking up a
stink about any discrimination taking place.

Who thinks they will do so though?

In some ways fantastic news - RU 7's is similar to RL in lots of ways, not
least the fact that its about fast, skillfull attacking flare.

Now then, how to pick the players for the Olympic team???!!!

This could be an amazing opportunity to forge links between the two
codes, and also demonstrate how much more skillfull RL is to the nation as
well as providing a great competetive spectacle for the nation!

Some thing along the lines of an open tournament with a cross-code judging
panel and the best players from both codes going on to make the team.

Or do it on the cheap; invite some RL teams to the Middlesex 7's in 2011
with a view to picking the best players for the olympic squad?!

Didn't Wigan win it the last time that happened?

John.
