Potted history of (Runcorn) Highfield since 1984.
(as promised to Peter Wapshott)

Huyton left Alt Park in Huyton at the end of the 1983-84 season and
moved in to share with Runcorn AFC at Canal Street in Runcorn, changing
their name to Runcorn Highfield in the process. They stayed there until
the end of the 1989-90 season when they left to move to south St Helens
to share with St Helens AFC at Hoghton Road in Sutton. They stayed here
for four seasons changing there name to Highfield after one year. Last
season the moved to Prescot (near Liverpool) to share with Prescot AFC,
eventually buying the ground.

<big snip>

Dave,
Thanks very much for the info you posted and also the reply
to my "rekindled" post. I appreciate the time and effort.

I was rummaging around in my loft and found an old Liverpool City
program for 64/65. Up to March/April '65 City had beaten Bradford N,
Swinton, Warrington, Blackpool, Barrow, Whitehaven, Salford, Batley,
Rochdale and Widnes. It just shows that they could win at one time !

Also found a Castleford vs Oldham for 27/04/63.
Your team was - Dickinson, Gamble, Ward, Battye, Cartwright, Hardisty,
Hepworth, Tonkinson, Ward J, Grace, Bryant, Walker and Sheridan.
I can only vaguely remember that Hardisty/Hepworth were a deadly duo :)

Regards,
