Dear Adrian,

Not as far as I heard during the Royal regatta, but I wasn't there for
the Vet's races the following weekend.

Might this be the Australian (Sykes) pair's crash? Can't remember who
with - someone's eight.

Didn't the aussie pair hit an eight under the Henley bridge a few days
before the regatta? It was reported in the newspapers as nothing serious,
but the aussies were bruised and cracked a blade and so decided to retire
and concentrate on the Lucerne preparations.

I was told by the Police that a man dived in off the bridge on the Friday
night and broke his back. I'm afraid I can't provide any further information.

Now you come to mention it, there was a guy who dived in on _Saturday_ night
during(ish) the fireworks - I didn't see, but heard the ambulance. I think it
was off one of the little bridges on the towpath rather than off the main
bridge, and the news the next morning (national radio) was that he had broken
his spine and was paralysed from the neck down. No name was given - if you
want more I suggest contacting the local Henley press or police.
