Any information would be greatfully recieved.
Cheers

We did this at Durham - you get people to sit inthe boat up at frontstops
until the coach is satisfied they're reaching to the right place.
Obviously slide beds, stretchers and rigging needs to be adjusted right to
make sure they are getting the right posture and position for maimum
stroke efficiency. Then you simply tape a straw so the blade just touches
it at frontstops.
For me it was pretty simple, but I am sure others can add to this.

When you make the angle measurement, remember that the gunwhales don't run
parallel to the keel, except in the middle of the boat. Don't measure from the
gunwhale to get your 55 (or whatever) degree angle. It can be tricky, but
watching the parallel angles of the shafts as they row and the way the boat
runs through the catch are very important clues as to wether you are screwing
them up or helping them get faster.
Judging the angle of the blade to the boat is quite difficult from the side
(the coaches usual perspective) compared to above. Just pick up a pen and
rotate it on a horizontal plane directly in front of your eyes, then look at
the rotation from above and you'll see what I mean.
The best feedback I ever saw was from a 10 second clip of our crew going
under a bridge, taken from above. If people aren't responding to the straw
trick, this is an excellent 'shock' treatment. Don't forget, it doesn't
matter how acurate the coach is, if the crew doesn't feel it, you'll et
nowhere
Video can be a hassle to organise, but it's worth its weight in gold to show
what the crew is really doing, as opposed to what it feels like it's doing.
Oh, and watch out for anyone that goes for the straws with their mouth, not
the handle, check their bottles after the outing!
