Hello

I'm looking for something to put on a university rowing club t-shirt such
as a comment, quote, slogan or humourous saying (preferably rowing
related). Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Mike

Rowers do it backwards

Pull hard then coast

A picture of an eight from above (with puddles) and
the comment "Water Bugs"

Don't know if you can use them but I saw a few just recently.

Picture of a macon and hatchet blade, underneath written "Select your
weapon."

Another (Sydney Uni) went ... (something, something) ... WHILE BOW FOUR
STROKE OUR COX. (Sorry can't remember the first part, it was written on
the front - I didn't see it properly.)

For the hardcore - our old coach's slogan : "6 minutes of pain for a
lifetime of glory."

Then of course there's the old "Rowing is the sport of a true champion,
everyone else plays games."

hmm - uni humour but amusing at the same time

Totally off the pace:
I don't know if you can get anything out of a polo slogan I saw : "Let
them play their games, but the King of games is still the game of Kings."

Until next time!

Hrm, funny you should mention another sport.. My friend and I were
walking outside our boathouse after a row chatting idly, when he
remembered a slogan from his football days and thought it would apply
well to rowing.. "You can't beat 8 brothers." Or.. "You can't beat 4
brothers..." That seemed a pretty cool shirt, especially if you happened
to be really close to the guys in your boat.

Another one there was:

The pain of training lasts one day. The pain of losing lasts a lifetime.

also, a variation on the original one above:

You have 6 minutes to win, and a lifetime to remember.

Awww, I dunno - Seen a few that would go close!
Perhaps if you put the Chinese womens Swimming team in an eight it would
apply.

NOTE:
Before you all condemn me to death for being racist - and only the naive
would, since numbers of the female Chinese swimming team tested positive
to use of substance to enhance performance etc... - I can't condone this
behaviour and believe mockery is a great form of combatting drug abuse.
