I just made my second pattern with FlossCross last night, and I'm loving it so far! My question is if there's an option to do 3/4 stitches when making patterns? I'm new to this so it's entirely possible that it's there and I missed it. So far I've been using the petite stitch when making patterns as a substitute to denote 3/4 stitches, but being able to mark them out properly would be rad.

You will probably use embroidery floss for your stitches. A skein of embroidery floss will have 6 strands. Most people do not cross stitch with all 6 strands and patterns will tell you how many strands to use for your stitches. It is recommended that you use 2 or 3 strands for the stitches on your nametag.

This is how to make a cross-stitch pattern with symbols representing colors in photoshop!

First we will prepare your original image by lowering the resolution, so that one pixel represents one cross, and lower the number of colors so that you can use a limited number of yarns.

Next we apply the grid.

After that I will show you how to replace individual colors with symbols.

This is good because you can print the pattern in black and white, and also because you can see the difference between similar colors.

This technique can of course be used to make decorations and gifts for the holidays, and other occasions!

Update: Here are two examples. The mario image has 5x5px square size and my complete bird montage pattern has 20x20px square size ( full size color, full size symbols)

First, of course, you crop the image so that you have an original that you want to use. Auto-levels and auto-contrast is always nice as well, and best to do before downsampling.

One way to lower the resolution is to use the filter "Mosaic". This is fine, but I don't really like it because it limits my control over the size of the final pattern. A much better way is to just resize the image to the desired number of stiches you want the final result to be (that way you also limit the number of total resizes to the image).

So,

Measure the fabric and count the number of stitches you want the result to be.

Resize the image to that number of pixels

Then, resize it up again with 500% (I use 5px per square). Remember to use the "Nearest Neighbour" setting to preserve the edges. We want those!

Update: When resizing down the image, the only thing you are interested in is how many stiches wide and high your final product should be. Just insert those numbers in the "Pixel dimensions" (if it's greyed out, check the "Resample image" box). The resolution and document size makes no difference here.

Now, repeat this with all the colors you need to replace and you are set!

If you want it to look better you could easily use bigger squares from start, and make a wider grid and symbols, but this is good enough for me.

That's all for now! Post your home made patterns in the comments so we can se what you do!

Product: The Sims 4

Platform:PC

Which language are you playing the game in? English

How often does the bug occur? Often (50% - 99%)

What is your current game version number? 1.99.305.1020

What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? Cottage Living, Cats and Dogs, Dine Out, cool Kitchen, CIty Living, Get to Work

Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Cottage Living doing an errand for the Grocery Delivery guy, Taste for Adventure

What happens when the bug occurs? The task to Make a Cross Stitch won't complete. Doesn't matter how many times I make a cross stitch, it won't complete. I also tried to bypass it by giving a cross stitch to the mayor as a gift, but it didn't work.

What do you expect to see? I expect for the sim to make a cross stitch and once it's completed in her inventory the task completes and I get a new task so I can finish the errand.

Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Never used.

Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? No

I have been trying to complete this errand for a few days. It says to complete the cross stitch. I completed that but it doesn't move to the next task. After googling, it seemed that I should just gift it to the mayor anyway and follow the tasks on the pop up list. The pop up list will sometimes say to deliver it to the mayor and sometimes it says that I have completed making it. I have made and gifted 3 different cross stitches to the mayor, but the tasks still never change. I don't have any mods, have repaired the game several times, and have the new patch update.

I even read that there are issues with several errands and there are additional tasks that need to be completed but they are not showing up. You only find it out by reading the popup text when you accepted the errand. I got back and read that the cross stitch needs to be gifted to the mayor. After I gifted the cross stitch to the mayor it updated and "Convey Mayor`s feelings to the Grocery Deliverer" (second screenshot)

I made a cross stitch and gifted it to the Mayor. The task is still there. I made another one. There was no special interaction when I gave it to the Mayor, like there was when I gave the other items to the Grocery Deliverer. So I suspect that's why the task didn't update. I just used the regular Friendly-> Affection -> Give Gift. I'm not sure what to do now. I may have to just cancel the whole errand.

August 2023 and running into this as well. I made three cross stitches. The first of which I gave to birds on accident because I didn't realize I needed to gift it to the mayor. I gave the second one to the mayor as a Finchwick Favor, and the third I gave as a friendly gift, but the task still hasn't progressed. I think I screwed it up by gifting the first cross-stitch to the birds and the game doesn't know what to make of that. Not sure what to do other than just deleting the errand, which I want to avoid since I need coop upgrade parts (a fox got my golden hen). Frustrating that EA still hasn't fixed this but not surprising. Adding to this in hopes that it gets traction and someone finds a fix.

Replying to this in the hopes that someone has a fix or any suggestion? I am having this bug and it's incredibly frustrating. I can complete all of the Taste for Adventure errands apart from the cross stitch one. I tried giving it to her as just a regular gift and it still didn't work. I have now cancelled the errand as I don't see the point in keeping it there if I cannot complete it. It's really strange because I played this pack a few months ago and was able to complete it fine so clearly the bug is getting worse. I'm a very story based player and not being able to progress with this is affecting how I play this pack. I have also noticed that I am not able to lure rabbits out of ANY rabbit holes...they just never appear. There so many issues with this pack and the Taste for Adventure one is not listed on the recognised bugs and people have been having this issue since last year I believe? Please fix this Sims, it's a key part of the pack that we all paid for

So if a pattern calls for 14 count aida and you want to stitch it on evenweave then use 28 count evenweave and the design will be the same size. Same goes for 16 count aida and 32 count evenweave etc.

I am adding a module all about evenweave in my How to Cross Stitch Course for Beginners so if you are new and want to dive deeper into cross stitch and evenweave head over and check the course out. Enrolment opens soon (June 2019)!

We specialize in designs that are larger in scale and teeming with intricate details, making each project a true work of art.

A note before getting started: Instead of poking holes in paper to make a grid like we did in the perfect cross-stitch stamp placement tutorial, you can use a piece of graph paper behind lightweight fabrics as a guide, or just line up the stamps with the grain of the fabric to keep the stamped stitches straight.
