I just wanted to get some opinions on whether most rowers prefer the Alden 26
or the Maas Single, if they had to choose between the two. I am going to buy a
new boat, and these two are the most appealing to me, price-wise. So, if anyone
has a moment, could you let me know what you think. I am hoping to find
somewhere I can try them out, but until then I would like to know what people
think. I hope this doesn't start any wars!!! ;-) Thanks!!! Kim
P.S. Sorry, Bill McG---can't afford yours. :-)

Actually, Empacher has a line of VERY INexpensive recreational boats that I'm
going to start advertising heavily this year. Their top-of-the-line rec.
racer is DM 4,680. at the factory (about $2668.) with shipping, duty, and U.S.
handling charges, I can get that baby here for about $3,200. delivered to
Boston.

Is that do-able for you? Yellow is such a lovely spring-like color.

Alden 26 has two weight classes: LWT and HWT; may be LWT will be
more suitable for you. MAAS is a good boat but has only one size.
You can take your boyfriend down to Craftsbury Sculling Center (VT)
and try different boats including Alden, MAAS, Peinert and FISA from
from Durham,NH. Also Craftsbury sells 2-years old used boats for
good price. May be FISA Ultrashell(used) will be the best choice
for you in terms performance, price and weight?

Best regards

That sounds great Bill !! Are they going
to send hats with that shipment ? How
long are you going to have the the Empacher
hats back ordered ? I have been waiting
for mine for a dogs age.

Boris,
Yes, if I do choose the Alden 26, it WILL be the lightweight version. But,
I don't live in Vermont any longer, so visiting the Craftsbury Center is out of
the question. So, you prefer the Alden over the Maas??? I already eliminated
the Fisa Ultralight from my choices. I saw one about a month ago, and it didn't
strike me as anything special. Like I said, me choice is narrowed down to the
Alden and the Maas. If you know of any place I could test these boats out in
person in PA or OH, please let me know!!! Thanks!!! Kim
