Just received this update via e-mail:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Due to scheduling conflicts, the Canadian Masters Rowing Championships will
likely be rescheduled to a different time and venue. We will post
additional info here and on the website as soon as it becomes available.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

So if you were planning to attend this regatta August 25-27 and possibly
combine it with the FISA Championships in Montreal Aug 30-Sept 2, you may
want to stay tuned to the website at

Thanks Sue,

I was just working on my 6-week training schedule to build up to that pair
of weekends. Have to rethink strategy now if weekend moves.

Thanks for the warning Sue, I hope they sort it out soon since it was
promoted as a warm up event for the FISA Masters which means they
have precious little room to manoveur. Any idea what event it conflicts
with?

Tim,

It conflicts with the US Masters Nationals held in Indianapolis. The problem
being the entry from US participants is expected to go way down and hence be a
loss maker for the local host club. Attempts are being made to rearrange with
other local clubs in Ontario but the same fiscal issue exists and little time
to organise such an event.

Were you planning to be out here for both events?

Cheers,

Tony

Hello Tony...thanks for the background on this one,
I hope they resolve it soon as it makes it a little
difficult for overseas competitors to attend when the
time and place has yet to be determined.

(Sounds like the US continngent at the Canadian Masters is
huge.)

I was hoping to use the Canadian Masters as a warmup,
very hard after 4-5 months winter training and no racing to
frontup to one regatta and perform at a reasonable level.

I hope to be there in August, see you then maybe.

I received this update via e-mail a day or two ago:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Our recent message concerning a possible change of date (Aug 24-26) and
venue (Toronto Island) of the Canadian Masters Rowing Championships appears
to have raised concerns about the timing of the 2001 FISA World Masters
Regatta, to take place in Montreal, August 30 Sept 2.
The 2001 FISA World Masters Regatta dates and location are not changing.
Rowing Canada is currently working as hard and quickly as possible to
resolve the Canadian Masters Rowing Championships date and location concerns
and will update you by email, via posting to the CMRC site, and the
rec.sport.rowing newsgroup as soon as this information becomes available.
FYI - We are not going to the USRA due to the travel and timing. CARA Masters
8/24-26 seemed to be more reasonable geographically and timing wise to USRA.
