A group of women from the Rogue Valley in Oregon (USA) have tastefully
bared all to create a revealing calendar again for 2006. This
calendar, also entitled Rowing Revealed: Power and Grace, features
images of women who row with the Ashland Rowing Club on Emigrant Lake.
Photographs were taken by Ashland photographer Pam Lott.
Shots of women ages 26-70 are included, and they are a stunning group!
Inspiration for the calendar came after seeing the movie Calendar
Girls, which featured British women who raised money for a cancer ward
by posing nude for a calendar that turned out to be a bestseller
around the world.
What I say:
This is excellent photography, better and slightly more revealing than
last year's version but tasteful. I happened to be there the day the
most controversial shot was taken (you'll have to buy the calendar to
actually see what was controversial). It was a cool morning...
Another morning during one of the many photo-shoots, some
orange-suited, less dangerous convicts showed up to do some brush
clean-up at the lake. I suspect more convicts wanted to sign up for
brush duty after that.

I see that they offer bulk discounts. Uhhh, "quantity" might be a
better word choice, given that bulk is not apparent in the photos.
It's striking that no faces are shown. A group of local businessmen
from Lyme, CT did a 2006 calendar to support affordable housing (
http://lymeline.com/Men%20of%20Lyme%20calendar.htm ). Their faces
show, which adds a lot of oomph to the photos. Obviously there are
privacy issues, but seems like a few over-the-shoulder or profile shots
would add to the rowing calendar.
Rowing nude looks uncomfortable. Probably a sign of my age.
I think faces were not included for the reason you cite, though the
"controversial" one I mentioned is, indeed, a profile. Within the club,
it's fairly well known who's who. It will probably stay that way.

Getting to be old hat now. In Lake County where I live, someone put
together a nude calendar of a bunch of friends of a local guy who died
before his time leaving behind some family to take care of. Local
ranchers, businessmen, friends of the family, even a physician friend
of mine posed naked on motorcycles, tractors, horseback, etc. These
were geezers like me, and it was tasteful, but hilarious. The proceeds
went to the family.
I didn't know the guy, but certainly I shoulda been Mr October!!!
One of the Ashland club rowing moms rowed out of my club a couple
weeks back, I wish I'd known about their calendar.
Mike
its practically a nudist colony there..one of my friends from the team is
from there and she said that you're allowed to walk around the town naked as
long as
a) you're not to physically attractice because that may 'arouse' others and
b) you're not running cause that would be considered streaking "

Technically, the Ashland rowers were in the county, not the city so I
guess they passed under the radar.
Was this at the same time when the "s" was replaced by the "h"? [;o)
Yet another extra law to restrict and confine us. Freedom is an
illusion.
