I am a 60y/o experienced rower (FISA D4X;E4X US D4X;E4X E8 stroke
winner) and will be living in Aix-en-Provence from Sept 20 to Dec 20. I
would like to compete with a French rowing club in that area. Is there
racing at that time of year? Contact with any info. Thank you.

All i can say is that there might be some races around Aix ( marseille, martigues ...)
at that time, but I can't give you more information. But you can contact either the FFSA
( the french rowing association) or the marseillan rowing club call the CAM (Cercle de l'Aviron
de Marseille) which is very active.
Unfortunatly I can't give you any adress because I'm in the UK at the moment and not in France !
But if you want i'll be back ther at the beginning of july, so i could give you more information...
(contact me by e-mail)

You might also try the rowing club in the Old Harbour in Marseille.
It's called the Rowing club of Marseille [I think], on the E side near
the Foreign Legion fort. My wife and rowed there a couple of years ago.
They are very nice. We rowed inside the breakwater westward to the
next town [where CAM islocated], a distance of about 10 km in some well
protected water.

Good Luck,
Ken.

I have the exact name and address of the club in Marseille that I had
mentioned previously.

Rowing Club de Marseille
36 Bd Charles Livon 13007
Marseille France

They are located on the W side of the old harbour near the Foreign
Legion Fort... very picturesque. They take lovely 10-=15 km rows along
the new harbour which is protected by a breakwater. There isn't much
commercial traffic so that they have lovely flat water for rowing. They
have mostly sculling boats and are quite friendly to visitors. They
also have a rowing tank. A young coach named Jean-Christophe Oules made
special arrangements so that we could row at times other than the
regular club nights which we thank him for. They really are called
Rowing Club .... and not Club D'Aviron!!

Good Luck,
Ken Young
