At the risk of offending the various boatbuilding deities here ...

I noticed Hudson has added a couple of interesting boats to their line, the
T6 and T7 (6m single and 7m double, respectively).

http://www.hudsonboatworks.com/adventure1.html

These appear to be sliding-seat sculling boats built on flat-bottomed canoe
designs. At first I thought these looked a little silly, but the potential
for liesurely, multiday rowing/camping trips with friends and/or pets is
intriguing.

Anyone have any experience with them? I notice, too, that Xeno's used one
(although I doubt this will be his chariot for the Olympics ...)

I have taken my kids out fishing in a T7. I had a fun workout as the kids
trolled for fish in the stern. They would be fun for tripping but I have
not taken one out on a trip. They also make great trainers for the single.

Apparently Xeno Muller has and uses it when his tretch of water is
rough. Got this off his web site.

Is there a training advantage in rowing a heavier, slower
recreational-type shell from time to time? Perhaps this is what Xeno is
doing. I've heard stories of folks dragging things to make rowing a 1X
more of a "strength" workout. I own a rec single which I almost never
use, so I was wondering if I should consider taking it out every once in
a while.

Haven't been to his web site recently, but from what I recall it can get
quite rough and some boat traffic. So instead of leaving boat on rack or
scrapping his knuckles, he takes out the T6 to get in some mileage.
