Technically, it's a somersault senton. The plain ol' senton is
executed by leaping forward, almost past the target, and leaning back
when you hit, which is why many call it a "senton back splash." MENS
Teioh (or was it Dick Togo? Anybody?) did the 'plain vanilla' senton
quite a bit during the initial Kaientai programs a copule of years
ago.

Jeff Hardy adds a full flip to the descent before hitting it.
Sometimes, it looks like a swan dive preceding the flip, particularly
when he dives off a ladder, or to the floor, or off the arena
rooftop...

Anyway, they've been calling it a "swanton" for a couple of months
now.

It's whatever Ross wants to call it this week. A couple of weeks ago he was
on the 'Senton Bomb' trip, the following it was a 'Swanton'...
Bit like Dan Severn, he called him Sev-Wren on occasion.

Jeff Hardy wanted it called the "Swanton Bomb."

it should really be called a swanton, its more of a swan dive, a real senton is
what picosis does, just a plain back splash

That was Dick To Go... I remember JR calling his senton a Senton Bomb
back when they were doing the whole Kaientai running in on every match
thing.

It's not a Senton Bomb!!! J.R.'s horrible announcing has brainwashed everyone!
In any form of a senton, the BACK of the person's body lands squarely on the
opponen'ts chest. In Jeff Hardy's "Swanton" Bomb, he hits them with the back
of his head/neck area. It never was a Senton-anything.

Actually, I believe the correct lucha term would be "Senton Tope Atomico," so
it would be a form of a senton, but I'm not sure. Drk?.......

It's a variation of a tope (headbutt).

In this case, somersault tope atomico.

Eddy uses a slingshot version of the move, btw.

Dick Togo, definitely.

At least the name of the move isn't a play on the Hardy's name or
gimmick, and it actually sounds like it could be the technical name of
the move.

Gimmick? They Hardys' gimmick is that they fall from very high distances,
badly injuring themselves in the process...

....which is pretty much synonymous with the name "Hardy" as it relates to
wrestling.

Tope Atomíco is the dive Lyger used to do when he would sommsersault onto
an opponent laying on the mat outside.

In lucha, they call it "tope de cristo" I believe. At least that's what
it's called for when Santo jr. does it.
