First off, yes, RAW won the rating for the first time in almost 2
years, whoop dee do!!! Let's all sit back and see if they can
accomplish that, I personally doubt RAW will win a month straight if
head to head meetings, and I'm not talking about during the playoffs
here.
What are all the WWF fans getting so happy for? Wasn't a few months
ago when they were trying to find ANY reason why ratings didn't matter??
I believe it was first the "West Coast Advantage" because we see Nitro
at 5:00 and it gives more points..... ummm ok. Then it was
well in America Nitro wins, but everywhere else in the world RAW wins.
Like you really care that the WWF wins in other countries, some where
Nitro doesn't even show. I kinda like the ones of late, before today,
RAW won a quarter hour!!! Man they kicked ass.
I'm sayin is that you WWF fans need to settle down and just hope they
can keep this streak going. Eric has proved that he can win the ratings
(almost 2 yrs straight) and he will get them back soon. When WWF was
coming up in January he gave us one of the best PPV's of the year with
Souled Out ( IMO the best), so I fully expect WCW to pull out some stops
here to get back the fans lost.
One more thing, I know it's been awhile since WWF actually won a head
to head meeting, but kinda show that you have done it before. Stop all
of the "Hogan sucks...hes old RAW Rules"
"Eric is gonna get fired cuz he lost" "Man what is WCW gonna do??" all
those things are very premature. Give it about a month or two then see
what's going on. Remember when Nitro first started out, no one thought
they would even be on the air a year, or even win against RAW, but they
did. And so expect WCW to put out some good shit for us over the next
few weeks.

The reason RAW has finally won the Ratings war is because WCW has become
too predictable. Many former WCW-only marks (including myself) have
switched to WWF, or are now watching both feds (me). This is because they
are tired of the same old angles.

WCW has not done anything with Goldberg. They have also lost several fan
favorites, including Malenko, Syxx, and now (apparently), Flair. The "What
about me" angle is nauseating. Hogan is boring! (same thing, week in, week
out). Everybody is tired of the ending on every edition of Nitro - a
run-in. What used to be fun is now actually boring!

WCW fans have been FORCED into checking out the competition. And WWF has
improved dramatically over the last few months. So, once the WCW fan checks
WWF (like I did for the first time in years this week), they stay! Using
myself as an example, I marked for the Vince match, but was not happy with
the result - no Vince fighting. But I am impressed with an owner who is
willing to take some shots (saw the replays of a former incident where
Stone Cold clocked Vince and LOVED it!)

So, for WCW to 'take-over' again, it will not be easy. Vince has a very
entertaining program, where he is even willing to REALLY physically get
hit. People who have switched or now watch both will be intrigued with WWF
for a long time to come! The only way WCW can win those fans back is by
're-energizing' the fed, like when the NWO was at its peak.

It will take some very clever NEW angles to do it. The NWO needs to
COMPLETELY dissolve into new factions. Bret Hart needs to wrestle or shut
up. Hogan and Piper need to be fired. The Four Horsemen re-union needs to
happen (pretty hard if Flair is gone!)
And Goldberg has to either become something, or get lost!

Also, the work ethic in WCW needs to improve. All the wrestlers there (with
very few exceptions) have forgotten their holds, and now rely solely on
clotheslines (running lariat), and forearm smashes/punches. I WANT TO SEE
SUBMISSION HOLDS, FLIPS and generally, MORE WRESTLING MOVES! More Jerichos
and less Hogans!

In conclusion, I think WCW will now HAVE to start some changes. Eric can't
ignore that rating report. That is GOOD for WCW fans - Eric is going to
try! So, expect the unexpected as the real war - the ratings war - heats
up!

I definitely agree here. I have been watching both for about 2 months
now. The nWo/WCW fight at the end may as well be a tape now. Not much
reason to bother fighting that out anymore.

I am not to sure if this is actually all that original, Eric was getting
beat up by the nWo back at the beginning of their act. And got suplexed
on the concrete just the other day.

Very good idea, two actual nWo teams feuding wouldn't be a bad idea.

Not to sure that Jericho is a good example, I think he is also closer to
the man of One move than 1004. He uses the lion tamer which i give
credit, looks to be a hell of a good move. But his basic repertoire is
the same as everyone else's. Forearms, eyegouges, foreign objects, and
maybe an arm drag every now and then.

Agreed, this can only be good for wrestling. One more thing, I hope
Vince loses the special effects soon. The last thing I want to see while
watching wrestling, is some guy pretending he can call down fire and
lightning. (i.e..... Kane) HOW LAME!!!

You better call somebody, "Nashmark" <pe...@compu.com>

When has he got anymore involved then Eric? I agree, WWF is putting out a
better product; I just see to many people jumping on a bandwagon.

I think what WWF fans enjoy the most is that Nitro has been beaten at it's
own game. Maybe ratings don't mean as much to the WWF (I believe they do, but
respectable ratings are more important than "higher than Nitro" ratings) but
they do to Bischoff. Bischoff answers any argument with "well, the ratings
show I'm right". And with Bischoff's bold prediction just two-weeks ago that
the WWF would soon spiral into another dismal display of ratings, I think WWF
fans are elated that Raw put egg all over Eric's face.
As for wrestling fans in general, I think they are mostly happy because
close ratings normally translates into improved shows. This may be a good time
for both feds, as Raw picked-up a larger audience, while Nitro maintained most
of theirs. It's interesting to note that when Nitro began its 80-some-odd week
streak of wins, Nitro built an audience while Raw lost little of theirs.
Wrestling audiences have grown tremendously over the last two years, and those
two years have been extremely memorable ones.

> I know you're a WCW fan (I'm WWF/ECW), but objectively speaking, the
folks on top of WCW (Bischoff) are television exec's. Vince & Co. at
Titan are professional promoters who know how to produce and develop
angles well. If you read the Nash chat on Prodigy, he even said that in
the WWF, you knew 6 months in advance what was going to happen, and how it
was going to happen (i.e., development). In WCW, Nash said everything's
pretty much on the fly. IMO, that could only work for so long. It'll
catch up eventually. McMahon knows what he's doing, Bischoff's still
learning. And he's gonna learn that signing big names is only half the
battle. Look what Vince has done for his "limited roster"--The Rock, The
Outlaws, Kane, HHH, God, even Val Venis--and he hasn't wrestled yet. I
won't mention Austin because he's a Hogan-type (half of his success is due
to his personality/ideas/talent, the other half is the opportunity/
production value of the promotion).
