People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones or call the kettle
black, Pete, if you know what I mean and I think you do.
> OK, I missed a match to go drive my sister to work, but I heard it was
>Silver King v. Evan Courageous. Silver King won.
Lemme make it easy for you Pete. Evan looked awful and was billed as a product
of the Power Plant. SK wasn't too special, either, but someone HAD to
win......!
>Mike Tolbert v. Horshu
>
> Tolbert comes out to Jericho's old music,
Didja happen to notice that Tolbert bears some smidgen of a resemblance to a
pre-1991 Scott Hall? Gets treated the same way. Horshu is now 2-2 in matches
I've seen.
> Lee Marshall is backstage to talk to High Voltage, who hail from

Kaos would look like Pillman did----if Brian lost all his teeth! Looks more
like a few surfer-types I've known.
> High Voltage will take on
>Enos/Bloom on Nitro.
Didn't happen this week, as the Train (Bloom) jobbed to the poster boy for roid
rage himself, your buddy, Scott Steiner, and HV & Enos no-showed.
>What's REALLY at stake here
>isn't who has the better superkick, but who will become the JTTS and who
>will be the plain old jobber after this match.
That's already been determined, actually.
> Didn't Morrus already
>wrestle a match with Hart as his manager again??
Yup, the street fight v. Public Enemy on Nitro in Philly.
> Raven promo. Raven brags about MTV Live, and that the Snake is his
>mentor.
What I'd like to see happen is Jake Roberts comes in and does a huge swerve by
turning on Lazy Levy. Craven is the world's biggest chicken among heels, worse
so than Kevin Nash.
> Hardbody has a new look and theme music tonight. He's grown a big
>blonde beard and now looks 50 years old.
Maybe it gives away his age or he wants to look like Sweet Daddy Siki?
>Disco comes back with the swinging neckbreaker and hits a
>spinebuster for the 1-2-3.
I'd like to see DI force Hogan to watch him demonstrate the right way to use
the Chartbuster/Apocalypse/Stunner on that idiot Disciple.
> Was supposed to be Raven instead of Hammer, but I guess Raven just
>didn't feel like it.
Now you see why I call him Lazy. Stupid screwjob finish ruined it.
J. C. Gilbert
Lenny Lane vs. Marty Janetty
Lane gets booed big time by the crowd. The announcers talk about how
disgusted they are by the scam Lane pulled on Malenko a couple weeks ago.
They say that lane said HE was set up. Lane will confront Jericho on
Nitro. A Lane push?? Well, at least a mini-push. Lane controls early
on with some clotheslines and kicks to the back. Lane gets nice height on
a legdrop for a two count. Lane whips Janetty to the corner but misses
big following him in. Janetty puts Lane down but misses on a springboard
legdrop. Suplex by Lenny for a two. count. Janetty comes back with a
sunset flip. Lane goes for his bulldog finisher, but Janetty counters,
hits the showstopper and gets the win.
OK, I missed a match to go drive my sister to work, but I heard it was
Silver King v. Evan Courageous. Silver King won.
I come back to a Spring Stampede promo for Raven v. DDP. Not bad.
Raven talks about "The Snake" giving him the DDT.
Mike Tolbert v. Horshu
Tolbert comes out to Jericho's old music, which I downloaded last
night, so its a little treat for me. Two Power Plant guys in this one.
Announcers hype the Power Plant before the match actually starts. Tenay
says "Horshu is blessed with potential". Two musclemen here. Nice kip-up
by Tolbert followed by some armdrags. Now its Horshu with a knee to the
gut and then a bulldog. Horshu poses. A double underhook suplex by
Horshu followed by a 2 count. Tolbert comes back off the ropes for a
sunsetr flip and a two count. He gets put right back down by a Horshu
clothesline. Horshu follows up with a body slam but misses with a
kneedrop. Tolbert rallies with a gut wrench suplex but misses two
elbowdrops. Horshu then hits a belly to back suplex. Horshu then goes to
the top rope, walks the middle rope and hits an elbow drop for a 3 count.
Nice finisher by Horshu.
Lee Marshall is backstage to talk to High Voltage, who hail from
Anchorage Alaska. Kaos (the Pillman lookalike) talks about WCW
dismantling tag teams. But he says not to forget about High Voltage, who
are young, determined, and have been kicking butt in Japan. They want a
title shot. Rage says High Voltage is the tag team of the next millenium.
Kaos sounded kinda like Road Warrior Hawk, and Rage was the more subdued
of the duo. Not a bad interview, and I like High Voltage a lot.
Mean Gene plugs the hotline. A new face in WCW to show up soon.
Scott and Steve Armstrong v. High Voltage
The Armstrong boys are heel this week. High Voltage are also Power
Plant graduates. Tenay talks about High Voltage impressing promoters when
they faced Vicious and Delicious two weeks ago. High Voltage will take on
Enos/Bloom on Nitro. Big press slam by Kaos. Another one from Rage, but
Steve Armstrong kicks him and Scott falls on Rage for a 1 count. Rage
comes back and slams both men. Rage then hits a big toip rope
clothesline on both opponents, sending them outside to regroup. Trip by
Scott allows enough distraction for Steve to toss Kaos (who has now tagged
in) over the top rope. Scott works over Kaos on the outside. Lots of
illegalk double teaming on Kaos now. Kaos comes back to hit a sunset flip
but Steve distracts the ref so there is no count. The Armstrongs try to
double team Kaos but he manages to hit a double clothesline. Rage comes
in off the hot tag and hits both brothers with dropkicks. Big belly to
belly by Rage. High Voltage now uses the Smoking Gunns old Sidewinder
finisher (Guillotine leg drop while the other guy does a sidewalk slam at
the same time). Steve A. breaks up the pin however. High Voltage
disposes of him quickly and Kaos hits a nice springboard cross body block
onto Scott, who is sitting on Rage's shoulders. High Voltage with the
win.
Recap of Nitro. On the 3/22 Nitro, we'll see Booker T., Eddy G, Saturn,
and Roddy Piper.
Chris Adams v. Glacier
Rematch from a great match last week. What's REALLY at stake here
isn't who has the better superkick, but who will become the JTTS and who
will be the plain old jobber after this match. Adams goes for the
superkick early but Glacier bails out. Glacier controls for the first
minutes of the match. Adams comes back and is now beating the hell out of
Glacier with stomps in the corner. Glacier manages to toss Adams out tof
the ring, and then poses. Now Glacier is beating on Adams outside,
whipping him into the guardrail and slamming him against the ringpost.
Back in the ring they go. Glacier whips Adams into the corner and
continues to pummel him. Glacier hits his first "real" maneuver of the
match, using Honky Tonk Man's old "Shake Rattle and Roll" swinging
necbreaker. Adams gets up and Glacier goes for the Cryonic kick, which
Admas duicks under. Adams immediately turns around and hits the
superkick. Adams with the pin. Good Match!\
Jim Powers v. Barbarian
Powers is without Teddy Long and Barbarian has Jimmy Hart with him.
ANnouncers mention Meng, so I guess he still works for the company. They
mention Hugh Morrus possibly signing Hugh Morrus. Didn't Morrus already
wrestle a match with Hart as his manager again?? Mention of Hugh Morrus
being a future star. This one is a total squash, with Powers getting in
no offense at all. Kick of Fear for the win.
Lorenzo v. Fit Finlay
Lorenzo surprisingly gets booed. Of course, the heat is canned (That
means fake, for all the humanoids out there). Lorenzo has a tattoo just
like Goldberg's. Lorenzo is another Power Plant wrestler. Announcers
talk about Finlay wanting to show the promoters something. We start with
a resthold. Finlay now with some stiff kicks and punches. Lorenzo fucks
up a leapfrog. Finlay takes it outside the ring and elbows Lorenzo, who
is hanging over the apron, repeatedly. Back in the ring, Finlay is
pummeling Lorenzo with kicks, punches, slams, and elbow drops. Lorenzo
gets his first offense in with 3 punches, but a Finlay eye gouge ends
that. Now an armbar on Lorenzo. Lorenzo almost gets a rally going but a
forward Samoan Drop squashes that. Finley goes for a Vader Bomb but
Lorenzo gets his knees up. Lorenzo rallies again briefly but Finley stops
it again, puts him in the Tombstone Piledriver, and gets the win.
Next week on Saturday Night: Chris Jericho v. Psicosis, Yuji Nagata v.
Booker T, and Rick Steiner v. Kevin Nash.
Raven promo. Raven brags about MTV Live, and that the Snake is his
mentor.
Thunder recap. All about Goldberg. Next week on Thunder, Luger,
Neidhart, Davey Boy Smith, and Booker T, all in singles action.
Jerry Flynn v. Prince Iaukea
Flynn is a heel this week. he is a poor man's Steve Blackmon. If Jerry
got rid of the mullet hairstyle, I would say he could almost pass for
Blackmon. Nice pop for Iaukea, who I like a lot. Flynn jumps Iaukea
before the bell. Lots of kicks from Flynn, who controls early. Big
lariat from Flynn. Followed by a wicked superkick from Flynn. Tenay
mentions that Flynn has the respect of the lockerroom because he "took
Goldberg to the limit". More kicks by Flynn. Flynn then misses a kick
and falls to the outside. The Prince finally gets it going with a
hiptoss, but follows up by missing a dropkick. Tenay talks about Iaukea's
visit to Japan. Iaukea then blatantly headbutts Flynn in the balls. He
follows up with a DDT off an irish whip, followed by a legdrop. The
Prince goes out on the apron and hits a nice springboard sunset flip.
More back and forth action until the Prince hits a Dragonscrew Legwhip.
Goes up top and hits the flying bodypress for the victory.
Hardbody Harrison v. Disco Inferno.
Hardbody has a new look and theme music tonight. He's grown a big
blonde beard and now looks 50 years old. The beard is somehwere between
Jericho length and Disciple length. Disco comes out in his old orange
tights. Inferno dominates the match, with Harrison getting a break only
by cheating. harrison has Disco down but misses a top rope somersault
splash. Disco comes back with the swinging neckbreaker and hits a
spinebuster for the 1-2-3.
Main Event
Saturn and Hammer v. Diamond Dallas Page and Chris benoit.
Was supposed to be Raven instead of Hammer, but I guess Raven just
didn't feel like it. Hammer and DDP start out. Both feel each other out
for a bit. They trade shoves and armdrags. Neckbreaker by DDP. Benoit
and Saturn join in and the good guys clear the ring. DDP and Benopit jaw
a little. Benoit and Saturn are now in. Benoit downs Saturn with three
straight snap suplexes. That's more impressive than the three german
suplexes if you ask me. The rally is short lived as Hammer pulls the top
rope down and Benoit takes a trip to the outside. Benoit gets back in,
and Saturn tags out. Hammer hits a big body slam for a 2 count. Benoit
hulks out of a facelock, but the ref misses the tatg to DDP. Now Saturn
and Hammer double team Benoit. Once again, Benoit hulks out of a
facelock, and hits a sunset flip. But Benoit continues to get beat on.
The crowd now chants D-D-P, D-D-P. Benoit rallies one last time and
manages to hit a double clothesline. He makes the hot tag to DDP who
punches each man alternately. Benoit comes back in, and brawls with
Saturn. Saturn and Benoit brawl all the way to the backstage area. DDP
hits a top rope Diamond Cutter in the meantime. But before the three
count the Flock is in, with Raven. Reese beats on DDP primarily. The
belt gets used on DDP. Lodi's sign says: You got banged. And the show
ends.
Overall, this was a god show. You have to not expect too much, and you
cannot grade it on par with Nitro. Take this show for what it is, a
midcarder highlight show. I liked how Tenay and Hudson built up each
wrestler in the match, especially the ones doing the job. Plenty of Power
Plant guys here too. I notice about the Power Plant guys: They are all
very muscular, seem to do a lot of springboard moves, and are for the most
part, very green, which means both their sense of match psychology and
their personas. But, they have talent. Match of the night was probably
Glacier v. Adams, which is this months Saturday Night feud. I forget what
lasty months was, but I think the one before that was Chris Adams and Norm
Smiley v. The Blue Bloods. I guess Adams is the king of Saturday Night.
Also, we had the Benoit v. Finley feud. My grade for Saturday Night: B+
