Actually, Vince McMahon had thrown away Women's wrestling several days
before that when he canceled the WWF women's program and notified Madusa
she was terminated over the phone. Too bad he forgot to confiscate the
belt first.
In fact, it would be closer to the truth to say Vince tried to kill
Women's wrestling, but Madusa & Eric Bischoff are keeping it on life
support.

I know that Vince didn't renew her contract (funny how she was scheduled
to face Aja Kong at the Royal Rumble). But the ACT of throwing the WWF
belt in the garbage was disgraceful. I have a hard time believing that
Vince canned the women's title because of Madusa's departure. Vince had
access to the All Japan girls at the time.

There are no more "over" women wrestlers. Luna Vachon seems to be out of
WCW, Miss Texas isn't wrestling, and Madusa is "retired". The only place
where Women's wrestling will actually thrive is in Japan. Do you like

No, it was the other way around according to the sheets (not the YAWNs, but
the print sheets) of that time. Vince had made the decision to scrap
women's wrestling from the WWF, thus Madusa was let go because of Vince's
decision.

I don't know how Madusa lost the match, but I think it had to be a
screwjob. It's so typical of Eric Bisquick to cheat the fans of something
they'd expect, and after reading the results on Grandstand, I see it
happened not once, but several times. If Madusa winds up going NWO, it's
stupid, but Bisquick is insisting on keeping the Women's belt on Akira
Hokuto, and has gypped the fans out of the proper order of things. I think
what will likely happen is that Madusa will retire to the broadcast booth,
something will happen where the stip is declared invalid, because Madusa
agreed under duress. What I want more than anything is for Madusa's
"Comeback" match to be against Sonny Onoo, and have him kicked out of WCW
for being such a conniving creep. I can't wait to see the Nyquil replay to
get some ammo out of this.
