I notice the name of David Lopatin on this list. He died in 1979 or 1980,
in his early twenties. I remember him as a cub ring photographer and
publicist for WWWF cards in Baltimore.

He mentions that being a college internship.

No idea of after that, but the point is he definitely did not die in 1979/80, and he definitely relocated from Baltimore to L.A.
Although, on the subject of wrestling Davids who were on Press Your Luck...I'm pretty sure Meltzer himself was on Episode #5 (September 23, 1983).
