Before I begin with the report, I will summarize the Xmass show, which
I caught on tape yet never got the chance to review. Possibly, this is
for the better, as a show with enormous potential was pretty bad. On
EMLL, there was one six man with Atlantis, Villano 3, and a bunch of
other guys. It really didn't mean anything, but because of it's
presence, everything else had to be clipped to fit the 1.5 hour
timeslot.[Also there was a rematch between the finalists in the Gran
Prix] Everything else, happened to be an Olimpico v. Black Warrior
title defense, and the Gran Torneo Alternativo), probably the only way
for the Momentos Estarles dominating undercard to ever get exposure.
Olimpico v. BW's first fall was clipped, with Olimpico using a
springboard bodyblock and a cristo to win. The second fall has Black
Warrior regain control, hit his beautiful missile dropkick and put
away OLimpico with the Nudo. The third fall was shortened, which
sucked pee pee because from the looks of things it was really great.
They traded nearfalls, then Olimpico hit a tope con hilo. Olimpico
went back in, and BW followed, and knocked the technico out, so he
could hit his jaw dropping tope. Both were out until the late teens of
the count, with Olimpico getting his head and shoulders under the
bottom rope, to "win" right before the 20. However, they overturned
the replay and Black Warrior won. This match might have been in the
***1/2+ range, but you never know cause EMLL always has to stick on
that one crappy match that causes everything to get clipped.
The Gran Torneo was the clipped main event. It was a tourney which
had four tag teams of an established star and a youngin, which often
had the stars dominate the youngins and not let them pull off any of
their spots, at least not in this clipped form. Negro Casas + Blue
Pudgy Guy with white crosses on his knees v. Scorpio + FUGAZ was
first. The stars traded fouls and Negro got caught, ending the match
in less than a minute, with 0 moves used by the youngins. Next was
Felino/Tigre Blanco v. Ringo Mendoza/Ricky Marvin. Felino's team took
apart Ringo's with little trouble. The amazing Marvin got to do
nothing in his TV debut. Thus, the final was Scorpio/FUGAZ v.
Felino/Tigre Blanco. Scorpio cracked my up by mocking the technicos by
doing a cat claw thing with his hands. Fugaz got caught on top and was
superbombed, then Scorpio was a sitting duck and was pinned with a
flying senton. Talk about a disappointment of a show.
AAA TV had Los Insectos v. Chivas/Duro/Directo open things up.
Insectos destryed the technicos in the first fall, using a reverse
superplex, and some goofy four man submissions. In the second, the
CHivas flew around and helped Duro/Directo get the win. In the third,
The Insectos had one guy sit outside and tie anyone diving or
armdragged up in a bodybag, which left two technicos v. four rudos.
That was one of the worst screwjobs I saw in 99. Next was the
"amazing" return of the Pasayos, against the Vato Locos. Pasayos bore
me to tears. Vatos won. Then there was a women's match, with all the
sloppy rudas v. technicos. Not good. I don't remember the main event,
but chances are it wasn't much.
Now, to this week's show:
EMLL TV-
Violencia, [Zumbido], Mr. Mexico v. Antifaz, [Solar 1], and Pantera-
Primera Caida- Violencia starts off with Solar, and is armdragged all
over the place, and is forced to flee when he is hit with a blown
Quebradora. Mexico comes in, clotheslines Solar, and stalls. He gets
dropkicked out. Now Pantera v. Zumbido. Pantera tries to do his flip
over Gory Special, but Zumbido just slaps him. The rudos runs over for
a clothesline, but is backdropped over the top rope, yet gets his feet
on the apron, instead of taking the Jerry Bump. He goes up top, but
Pantera is waiting, and hits the standing on the top rope
frankensteiner, taking him out. Violencia runs in the ring, but is
rana'd by Antifaz, and Solar slams Mr. mexico and uses the awesome no
hands pretzel pinning hold(One of my faves, called the Nudo, though
it's not like the Lagunero's submission), giving the technicos the
win.
Segunda Caida-Solar begins with Mr. Mexico, dropkicking him out. He
fakes a tope, and rolls back onto his feet, where Violencia chases him
into a tag to Pantera. Violencia backs Pantera in the rudos corner,
and they begin to cheat. Antfiaz is tagged in, slammed, and hit with
two cyclone elbows, and pinned by Zumbido. Violencia slams Pantera and
finishes him with a suicide headbutt.
Tercera Caida- Rudos remain in control, brawling with the technicos.
Violencia uses a chokelift to Antifaz. He tags to mr. Mexico, while
Solar replaces Antifaz. Technicos begin to take control. Solar almost
gets Mr. Mexico in La Atlantida, but he wiggles free. He is then put
in a over the knee backbreaker. Violencia break this up, and does a
double armbar, until Pantera break that up with a dropkick. Solar back
in, and he is against Zumbido. He does a spinebuster, and then a
slingshot, and waits in the corner, as Zumbido charges at him, and
takes the knee-on-the-turnbuckle bump beautifully to the floor.Solar
comes out with a tope! Violencia now is facing Pantera. He slams the
technico, but can't hit the twisting senton off the top, and is
dropkicked out. Pantera over the corner, runs on the apron, and hits
a through the turnbuckles tope suicida! Mr. Mexico faces Antifaz,
misses a clothesline, and dives through the ropes in a tope... to no
one. Hey, maybe he is good for something. Antifaz quickly nails him
with the over the top side corkscrew plancha! Now Solar and Zumbido
are left. Solar controls with a backdrop, but is hit with a backspring
dropkick when he tries to whip Zumbido to the ropes. Zumbido then uses
a slam, and the moonsault, giving the rudos then win. Good action in
this fall.[Full point]
SHOCKER, Mascara Ano 2000, [Cien Caras] v. [Emilio Charles], Olimpico,
Niebla- Shocker probably feels like Booker T. of the Harlem Heat here.
Why isn't Black Warrior on the rudos side instead of one of the
Hermanos? Isn't he still fueding with Olimpico? Oh well.
Primera Caida- Rudos outbrawl and defeat the technicos with little
trouble.
Seguna Caida- SHOCKER starts out against Niebla. They trade some basic
moves, but Niebla is backdroppped to the apron, and knocked off, where
he is hit with a tope suicida. Olimpico gets the brothers to walk into
an Emilio missile dropkick, and then Olimpico pins one with a reverse
cradle and Emilio pins the other with an abdominal stretch rollup.
Tercera Caida- This is over is seconds. Shocker pulls Niebla out, and
the other technicos look confused, so the rudos suprise them with low
blows and roll ups, for the pin. Waste of Shocker, Olimpico, and
Niebla.[.0]
Brazo del Plata, Ringo Mendoza, Negro Casas, Tinieblas Sr. v. BLACK
WARRIOR, Blue Panther, Pierroth Jr., Apolo Dantes- Brazo comes to the
ring with the children who found his pig. He thanks them and the fans,
blah blah blah... Then, coming down from the Galatron, Pierroth and
the rudos enter without music, and he yells at the children and I
think he says he spent this christmass eating somthing, and he
promises to get back at them?. Anyway, a brawl quickly erupts and it's
not really interesting. Pierroth took alushe away and tried to beat on
him so later in the match they did the midget beats on someone spots.
Technicos win in straight falls. Nothing to write home about. After
the match the technicos hold off Pierroth and Alushe took some cheap
shots, the anouncers said he was crying because he was humiliated. He
tried to get in a cheap shot, but couldn't, and ran off.[0]
Momentos Estarles-
1-Olimpico does a tope con hilo to Black Warrior! Clipped out of their
match.
2-Black Warrior hits the tope of death!
3-Olimpico gets his shoulders in the ring before the 20 count. He wins
at first, but it overturned after a replay.
4-Fugaz does a corner post tope con hilo! This is different then what
Aguila does, because he actually jumped over the ropes, and used the
post to rotate himself. Awesome dive! Clipped out of the match.
5-Tiger Blanco does a tope to Ricky Marvin
6-Niebla and Tarzan Boy do dual topes to the Los Nuevos Infernales.
Tarzan's was especially beautiful because as he connected the force
made his body go almost vertical to Ultimo Guerrero!
Main Event: Ricky Marvin v. Rey Bucanero- mano a mano
Primera Caida- Bucanero jumps Tarzan as he does an interivew, and
proceeds to beat the crap out of him, to the point that he blades.
Bucanero puts him away with a Gory Special into a facebuster.
Segunda Caida- Bucanero remains in control, for a good while, but
eventually has a spinebuster reversed into a small package, and is
pinned.
Tercera Caida-Now Tarzan has control. He busts Bucanero open very
badly. Then he dropkicks the rudo out and jumps onto him with a
no-hands tope con hilo! He goes back in, and poses while kneeling, but
Bucanero comes out of nowhere, and uses La Cavernaria, but can't get
the submission. He whips Tarzan to the corner, and Satanico grabs a
leg, so that TB is distracted, and Bucanero uses a inside cradle, but
only gets two! Bucanero misses a charge to the corner, and TB uses a
reverse falcon arrow, for two. He goes up top, but misses the
moonsault, and is missile dropkicked to the outside. Satanico holds
Tarzan for a dive, but Bucanero hits his own man. He runs back in the
ring, is kicked in the stomach, and nailed with the spinning underhook
facebuster, for the three count! Good match.[Full point]
Overall, this had two good matches and two junky ones, so it's almost
50/50. An improvement over last week's. [2/4]
AAA TV-
Fabi Apache/Cinthia Moreno/[Alda Moreno] v. [Miss Janeth]/Rosy
Moreno/Tiffany [AAA v. LLL]-
A Sola Una Caida- Fabi Apache starts with Tiffany. Tiffany hits the
floor after whipping Fabi to the ropes, but finds herself in a rolling
cross armbar seconds later. Apache picks her up and works on the arm,
however, tries a reverse cradle and is reverse powerbombed. Tiffany
whips her to the corner, and is nailed with a swinging DDT.Upon her
returning to the ring, Fabi uses several headlock takedowns and a
dragon screw. She tries to rush Apache at the corner and takes a bump
to the floor. She returns the ring and they trade hair throws. Now
it's between Cinthia and Janeth. Cinthia outquicks her and uses a
armdrag to headscissors and then a headscissors from the apron to the
floor. Tiffany and Janeth try a double team, but get the ol'
headscissor and armdrag spot. Cinthia uses a splash, but gets two.
Rosy come in and controls with a helicopter throws, and then does a
Doomsday Device with Thesz press with Janeth. They get two and Apache
tags in, and uses a Lygerbomb on Tiffany, to set up a Cinthia senton.
Janeth breaks this up and uses a underhook faceslam and then sets Fabi
up top, so Rosy can use a backsuperplex, for two. She tries a swinging
ddt, but Cinthia counters by rising up top and using a frankensteiner,
and then Alda comes off top with a senton. Now the rudas bring in a
wooden board and start the brawling. They also handcuff Cinthia to the
ropes, getting them DQed finally. Aside from the stupid finish, this
was a very good match. [full point]
[Psicosis], Maniaco, Histeria, Mosco v. [Picudo], May Flowers, Charly
Manson, Nygma- For the campeonato nacional atomico[Atomicos
Championship]
Primera Caida- The Vatos start by using chairshots, but the match
eventually goes back into the hands of the Vipers. Mosco and Maniaco
do a cool double team spot to Charly, a standing moonsault and
legdrop. The match turns into a regular tag, as Mosco tries a
frankensteiner off the top, but is superbombed by Nygma. Nygma picks
him up and tries a rana, but is powerbombed and pinned. He gets the
same treatment from May Flowers. Histeria comes in, and does a asai
moonsault to him, screws up a La Tapitia, and then rolls off the
ground into a powerbomb, for two. Charly Manson suprises him with a
sommersault bodyblock and a over-the-top-sunset flip, for the pin. He
then dives off onto Maniaco with a no-hands tope con hilo. In the
ring, Psicosis gets a near fall on Picudo with a sunset flip. Maniaco
brings in the chair to hit a help off Picudo, but accidently hits
Psicosis. May Flowers had gotten up, so Maniaco nails him with a tope.
Charly Manson slams Psicosis and does a moonsault and gets the three!
New champions! Psicosis gets into a fight with Mosco after the match.
This match was a little sloppy but had good action. [.75]
Dos Caras, Canek, Alebrije v. Cibernetico, Tiger Steele, and DOINK
DOINK DOINK DOINK- Doink is fat and not evil. Tiger Steele is awful.
Dos Caras tries to save it, but alas, when your stuck in with
overweight Whiff rejects and the Mexican Lex Luger, you might as well
quit while you're ahead. Technicos win. [0]
Octagon v. Jaque Mate- Mascara contra Mascara- the seconds are the
fighter's wives. The first portion of this match is a huge brawl that
goes everywhere. Miss Janeth brings handcuffs to ringside, so Jaque
can use them. She taunts the crowd with the keys as she goes to the
back, but Alda Moreno suprieses her, slams her by the stereo system,
and does a senton off the stereo system to the floor! ENORRRME! As
Jaque continues the beating, CiberDreamer press slams Alda on the
floor! And here comes Canek. They brawl around, while Alda crawls to
the keys, and hands them to Octagon's wife. He is free, and the
brawling around the ringside arena commences. He rips open the rudos
mask, and Jaque ends up hitting the ref with a chair. This allows
them to brawl up into the stands. Octagon uses the cuffs and a wooden
board as a weapon, so that Jaque gets busted open, and he gets busted
open bad. Blood is all over his face, and his chest. Jaque fights back
and slams Octagon, and takes a year to go up top and uses a flying
splash, for two. He tries another splash, but Octagon moves out of the
way, russian leg sweep, OCTACLUTCH! Jaque gives up! They unmask him,
and Octagon thanks him for a great fight, and the wives congradulate
each other[For what?]. It was a nice ceremony. The match's run-ins and
juice factor were much more interesting than the match
istelf, but it was still pretty entertaining. [.75]
Overall, there were three good matches here and one shitty one, but it
was still a good show. I wonder if next week they will air the
TAKA/AGuila in Mexico match, or the Blue Demon rudo turn. We'll see.
