Dot Net reader Michael Wiseman attended a screening of "MacGruber" and
passed along the following report.
I attended a "MacGruber" screening at my college campus, NC State
University, on Monday. Overall, the WWE wrestlers were only in the movie
about 10 minutes. The character of MacGruber was trying to assemble his
dream team of "Killer Stoppers." Chris Jericho was the first one featured,
and had a nice quirky exchange with Will Forte that had the audience
rolling. It was much better than their exchange last week on Raw.
After that, there was a montage of him recruiting Mark Henry, MVP, The Great
Khali, and Big Show - but, when he got to Big Show, he saw his character
share an on-screen kiss with another man (which was hilarious, I might add),
and quickly marked his name off of the dream team list.
Kane threw a knife into the crotch of a paper target during the recruitment
montage.
Finally (minor spoiler alert!),
he put them all in the back of his SUV ready to head out for a mission...
along with all of his homemade C4. And yes, they all went up in smoke.
After that brief stretch, they were featured again briefly at the end of the
movie, but that was pretty much the extent of their cameos. I would describe
it as short, but effective. Jericho and Show got a decent pop from the
audience (I guess the college kids were all wrasslin' fans back in the day?)
Khali got a gasp, and people seemed indifferent to Mark Henry and MVP.
The movie was surprisingly funny, albeit quite crass in spots, and I would
recommend it to anybody wanting to watch something silly while kicking back
a few beers with some friends.
