WWE's new Realism

justify depushes for people like Matt Hardy and Rey Mysterio, while pushing
hosses since they are more "beleivable". If the WWE was smart, and they
really were after realism, they'd push wrestlers/characters on their
strengths. Benoit *is* a bad ass. IMO he's credible. So is Eddie Guerroro,
by emphasizing their matt skills, and putting it over as a threat, there is
no reason why the audience couldn't buy them going over a Steiner or a
Nathan Jones. Does Vince think his audience are brainless morons?

Writers attempting to bring more believeability to storylines
Recently, the WWE creative staff passed down a new 'realism' edict, trying
to give a more realistic feel to the WWE universe.
One thing in particular that was noted by management was wrestlers calling
out the names of signature moves before actually hitting them. Specifically,
Rey Mysterio was told not to call out 619 anymore before executing the move.
There is concern that the edict is being enforced inconsistently, with some
wrestlers reportedly noting HHH's sledgehammer as a good example of the
edict not being used for everyone.

Probably the most 'realistic' thing they could do is more pinfall
lossess to their top guys - no one is on their game 100% of the time -
to be 'realistic,' then it seems that any wrestler can beat any
wrestler on any given night.

Yeah. But at the same time, there has to be a pecking order - not of
individual wrestlers, but of levels. I do agree with the concept of
main-eventers, upper midcarders, etc. But they have to be applied. Jericho
is a main-eventer and should be booked and treated as such.
As for the "anyone can beat anyone on any given night", I agree. We
discussed this the other day in the thread about Finishers.

Heh, I can just imagine Vince watching the PRIDE event where Antonio
Rodrigo Nogueira defeated Bob Sapp via armbar, as a single tear comes
down his cheek as the "hoss" Sapp taps out to Nogueira's "workrate".
