Henig gave the AWA the most publicity it had since the days of Rick
Martel as champ. The whole Von Erich-Lawler angle was brilliant. The
AWA's biggest mistake(and perhaps it's fatal one) was stripping Lawler of
the belt. If he held onto it, perhaps they would still be around today.

Cause no one would've bought Greg as world champ. It was rough enough with him
as tag champs with Brunzell, but at least they had their "high-flying"
gimmick, which for their time, they were.

he would have looked ridiculous wearing the belt. Besides Verne kept
giving HIMSELF back the belt! Verne won back the belt in 1983 when he was
58 or something, and wrestled well into his sixties, always cleaning house
and never selling anything.
Actually Greg Gagne DID win the AWA world title, at a house show in
Minneapolis he pinned Larry Zybsko cleanly in a cage match, was presented
the belt and carried out of the arena on the shoulders of the other faces.
But on TV the next week, the belt was given back to Larry. It seems that
Larry didnt make a mandatory title defense in Japan and therefore his
match against Greg was declared after the fact to have been a "non-title
match"
Anyway what they did was create a title for Greg, the International
Heavyweight Championship. Greg wore the International belt the remainder
of the AWA's days....it was hilarious when to get more babyface heat as a
singles wrestler, he joined Sgt. Slaughter's Cobra Corps and started
wearing fatigues and acted like Slaughter was teaching him martial arts in
boot camp.

I remember that! Sgt. Slaughter would be yelling at him, and Gange would be
screaming "I hate you Slaughter!" as he did push-ups.

divorce and I belive she is the one married to Mr. Perfect. I am not

Nope...Curt is married to the youngest daughter of Verne Gagne. Curt is
from Minnesota and has never lived in Calgary, Canada in his life so I
doubt he even knows Brett's sisters very well.
Neidhart and Elle Hart are divorced (probably all those single women on
the Thunder in Paradise set). Very rarely, given tempers and such, do you
seesee a wrestler marry another wrestler's ex-wife unless a LOT of time
has passed (or in the case of Greg Valentine and Madusa Macelli, the
former husband is dead!)
