1. Why did the rebels think they had to start evacuating after seeing
one little imperial probe droid? Didn't they figure that they could
have sent hundreds of them throughout the galaxy? Even the imperials
thought it was no big deal until Vader sensed Luke.

2. Why did the Snow Speeders take the AT-AT's on head on? Why didn't
they cut a mile or two to the side to avoid direct fire and then come
around to the AT-AT's back when launching the harpoon? Seemed to take
on a lot of unesscary hits and smooshed rebel pilots by doing that
head on. It didn't protect the base or shields any better just by
shooting a few little blasters.

3. Luke makes the comment that the armor is too heavy for blasters.
Yet after taking one down with harpoon, two little blasts blows the
motherfucker to kingdom come. How in the world did that happen? Did
they shoot it on the Achilles Heel of the AT-AT or something? If so,
why didn't they start doing that with the rest of the AT-AT's then?

4. What happened to that poor medic droid that wished Luke good luck?
Did he get loaded on a transport or did he know his fate was sealed
when they started evacuations?

5. Are all nerf herders scruffy looking?

My problem is more a RotJ thing: when Han is thawed out, shouldn't he still
be REALLY pissed at Lando? They seem to be getting along pretty nicely in
RotJ despite what happened in Cloud City. I mean, I assume Han is pretty
much asleep under all that carbonite, so not much pondering what's going on
there.

Even such a small trace would have been checked by someone.

"Better safe than sorry."
"A stitch in time saves nine."

It's better to at least start the long and comlicated evacuation
process and then later decide to stop, rather than wait for something
bigger to arrive and then be too late to get away.

The Rebel pilots were trying to distract and slow down the AT-ATs from
reaching the Rebel base to give the evacuation more time - they knew
they stood little chance against the AT-ATs. Coming from the front
means the AT-AT crews would hopefully decide to get rid of the
attacking Snowspeeders first, hence taking longer to reach the base
itself.

With the AT-AT on it's "knees" the weak point was much easier to target
and hit, rather than trying to hit it in a moving target with head and
legs constantly getting in the way.

I think the medic droid did get evacuated. I think there's an EU story
about it somewhere.

Only the ones not making enough money from the nerfs to buy better
clothes and haircuts. ;-)

They probably figured something else would be along sooner or later.
Even if it wasn't the whole fleet, the next Imperials to follow up on
the contact would discover them.

IAWT. It didn't look like the AT ATs had any air cover either.

LOH. Maybe the top armor was thinner, and shooting from the top when
it was down was better. Also the defensive guns were out.

That said, just dive bomb/dive strafe them then! ;)

Well, in the Medic droid's favor, everyone needs them so maybe the
Imerials just use them too. They are probably programmed to treat
anyone. This assumes any Imperial soldiers are ever just wounded....
(There was a pretty funny Star Wars fan film about that out on the
net.)

Probably.

It was going to blow up anyway. The Empire's efficient way of disciplining
careless AT-AT crews who let their machine fall over.
