The logic is sound, but you're talking about both Hogan and WCW. Can
Hogan's ego withstand a heel turn? I don't think so. I suspect
ultimately Hogan will not intentionally put himself in a situation to
invite boos, and run the risk of finishing his career in a heel role.
Hogan's own ego demands he be the hero, and since he can call his own
shots, it cuts the likelihood of the scenario to next to zero. It's
possible, but very improbable.
This is my first post to RSPW although I've been a fan for many years.
Just thought I'd stick in my two pennies about this whole WWF/WCW angle.
Almost all potential participants have been in both major federations so
teams should be made up of wrestlers who made their biggest impact in
that federation. So on that note...
Team WCW
STING (the only player who never jumped federations)
LEX LUGAR
RIC FLAIR (he is the ultimate WCW representative and could defend that
organization's honour by teaming with men he usually fights against)
Team WWF
NASH \ these are obviously
HALL / two members
The third?
I agree that Hulk Hogan should turn heel as he is the ultimate symbol of
the WWF. I don't know if the WCW would risk messing with the biggest,
most popular, well-known drawing card in wrestling history but I think
this angle could work and have potential for future developments.
Hogan's turn could come when Sting and Lugar and searching for a third
partner and they REFUSE Hogan. Nash and Hall could run out and have a
3-on-2 till Flair makes the save.
This could eventually lead to the ultimate Hulk Hogan vs. Ric Flair
showdown that we all craved through the 1980's but never really got (did
they headline a WWF PPV? I don't think so.) The battle could be
stretched out to War Games when Jeff Jarrett could join Team WWF (since
he's not supposed to wrestle till the fall) and Arn Anderson (or ?) could
be the fourth member of Team WCW.
Interested to hear what you think of these ideas. Hopefully it's clear.
One other idea...to cement the idea that Team WWF is (but isn't really)
representing the WWF, why not give Nash, Hall and Hogan nicknames using
the initials W, W, and F. then bill them as "WFW" or something?

That makes sense since WCW didn't pick their beloved Hulkster to honor
WCW's pride and defend it.

It would make perfect sense. Hogan began his career as a heel (managed
by Blassie) and was pretty effective in that roll. His motivation could
be jealousy over getting "forgotten" by WCW while he was away for
awhile.
The problem is, Hogan's ego would never allow it. He still believes he
is the biggest draw and biggest hero in wrestling.

If I remember correctly, Hogan made his AWA debut as a heel, and was
managed by one of those Valentine brothers (Luscious Johnny maybe?).
Then, almost overnight, he became the "real American" that he is
today!
