- Results from a WWF card in Toronto this past Sunday:
- Undertaker def. Yokozuna by DQ
- IRS def. Kamala by pinfall
- Tatanka def. Doink by DQ
- Bob Backlund def. Damien Demento by pinfall
- Steiners def. Beverly Brothers by pinfall
- Virgil def. Reno Riggins by pinfall
- Brooklyn Brawler def. Jim Powers by pinfall
Next card in Toronto is 07/11/93 (!), an unbelievably long time away.
- WWF has WrestleMania on 04/04/93 at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas.
The line-up looks like this:
- Bret Hart vs. Yokozuna for the WWF Title
- Hulk Hogan & Brutus Beefcake vs. Money, Inc. for the WWF Tag Titles
- Steiners vs. Headshrinkers
- Tatanka vs. Shawn Michaels for the IC Title
- Giant Gonzales vs. Undertaker
- Curt Hennig vs. Lex Luger
- Crush vs. Doink the Clown
- Bam Bam Bigelow vs. Kamala
- Bob Backlund vs. Razor Ramon
- Jerry Lawler vs. Genichiro Tenryu
There is lots of talk that the final match on this list will not take
place. I'm still unsure if the PPV spot reserved for the WWF on 04/12/93
will be a replay of this show as somebody else reported. My guide says
that the PPV and replay air back to back on 04/04 and just has a blank
reserved spot for for the WWF on 04/12.
Predictions? With Ted DiBiase still hurting, Hogan & Beefer should
take the straps. There's no way that the match won't have them win
decisively, I think. I would have Yokozuna win the title, using some
salt to get the win and have him destroy Hart a bit after the match
with Hogan making the save. This would set up Hogan vs. Yokozuna
on 04/12, where Hogan could get the title (before his movie opens).
The tag titles would be up for a tourney and Yokozuna would be freed
up to feud with Jim Duggan. The obvious tag title tourney winners
would be the Steiners. That said, they should lose to the Headshrinkers
at WrestleMania (controversially, say) or at least get beat up after
the match so that a Steiners vs. Headshrinkers tourney match has
added heat. Speculation is fun, isn't it?
- Talk is the "Flair for The Gold" stuff that Ric Flair keeps talking
about is the name of an interview segment that he will host in WCW.
He'll do that until he starts wrestling again in June.
One of the local papers had the following quote from Flair: "All
the elements are in place for the WCW to really go big. Ted Turner
is really committed. I'm not saying this to spite the WWF, but in
12 months I believe the WCW will be bigger."
- Looks like the new guys in charge of WCW are embarking a big North
American tour. They'll be going to a lot of "foreign" ground, hitting
New York on April 14th and Toronto on the 18th. It's weird seeing
localized interviews on WCW syndies. This past week they announced
the following things for Toronto:
- Steve Regal vs. Maxx Payne
*- Cactus Jack & Dustin Rhodes vs. Paul Orndorff & Rick Rude
*- Sting vs. Van Vader for the WCW Title
- Ric Flair will appear
Tentative other matches:
- Barry Windham vs. Ron Simmons for the NWA Title
- Brian Pillman & Steve Austin vs. Ricky Steamboat & Shane Douglas
for the WCW Tag Titles
- Marcus Bagwell & 2 Cold Scorpio vs. Tex Slazenger & Shanghi Pierce
- Van Hammer vs. Vinnie Vegas
- Chris Benoit vs. Johnny B. Badd
Flair was apparently in Toronto promoting the show last week.

My satellite guide has a replay of WMIX on 04/12.

>My satellite guide has a replay of WMIX on 04/12.
Q: Why would the WWF put a replay of WM9 on PPV? Is this the norm for
big PPV? I know he's replaying it at 10:30 on the 4th, but I can't see
what use it would be to replay it two weeks later after he's shown
half the matches on TV....
Michael
The cable companies want to know about PPVs about 2 months in advance.
Last time around, what would become "Tuesday in Texas" was listed as
a "WWF Special Event" which led everybody to speculate that something
dastardly would happen to set up another PPV. If Vince has plans to
have a second PPV a week later, in order to give the WWF Title to the
Hulkster (which he could have been contemplating roughly two months
before 04/12), maybe he didn't want to blow the whistle on his plans
by listing it as a "WWF special" or such. It's quite possible that
the satellite guides, that have many other things to worry about,
just listed the 04/12 show as a replay of WM. My guide just has a
spot reserved for the WWF, with no explanation.
One would think that a replay 8 days later would have a buy rate so low
that it wouldn't be a profitable effort. Hence, the speculation.

The only thing I find strange is that it is scheduled at 10:00 p.m.,
which seems a little late for a WWF PPV.

It's the norm. They usually will replay most PPVs two or three other times
to get the hardcore people to buy it twice or something.
Daryl
In my guide, the spot from 8:00pm on is reserved for the WWF. That would
give enough time for 2 hour mini-PPV (a la TTIT) plus a replay.
Herb...
According to Meltzer, it's unquestionably a replay. Oh well, it
might've been interesting.

How well would a special PPV go over, just 8 days after a big PPV such
as WM? What were the buy rates on "Tuesday in Texas"? Something that
I've always been curious about but never really bothered to ask...

"I'm not good at ending things, only getting them started."
-Another attempt at a signature where I quote
no one but myself.
The WWF is appearing at the Mid-Hudson Civic Center in Poughkeepsie NY on 4/12.
Most major stars are advertised for the card, so either
1) There isn't a 4/12 PPV
2) Poughkeepsie fans are going to get screwed
3) This turns out to be a PPV
Remember, RAW was broadcast from Mid-Hudson one week, so 3 is a possibility.
Still I think the most likely scenario is 1.
