I was right there for this incident, but before I get to it, let me give
you some backround on it... After UFC V, at the cocktail party, Tank
Abbott was there starting fights with all of the fighters, saying how in
UFC VI, he would "kick there asses". Well, he started a fight with
everyone, including Dan Severn, when he went up to Dan and gave him a big
wet kiss on the lips.

While in Casper for UFC VI, Tank Abbott started tons of fights. One at
the rental car agency, three at bars, one backstage, and two at the hotel.

Well, Saturday morning at the hotel, I was coming down the elevator when I
heard a lot of screaming, when the doors opened, I saw Pat Smith turned
around and walking away. Tank Abbott punched him in the back of the head,
knocking him out. While he was knocked out, one of Abbott's managers
jumped on top of Pat Smith, and used his head as a punching bag. Luckily,
it was broken up, or Pat Smith would have been dead. He was knocked out,
choking on his own blood. My dad called for the cops and the ambulances,
and Pat Smith was taken to the hospital on a stretcher. Later, when he
returned to the hotel, we where talking to him. He said he didn't even
remember anything that happened. When we told him, he was very pissed
off. Well anyway, Tank Abbott and his group of idiots took off in their
red Ford Bronco. The police have an APB on the car and a warrent on his
trainer.

I also was talking to the big Samoan that Abbott beat in the first round.
He said that he tried to headbutt Abbott as hard as he could, which
usually knocks someone out. Since Abbott's head is so hard, he knocked
himself out. He woke up when he had about in a hold. When he stopped to
think where he was, he losened up, and Abbott slipped out. Abbott
destroyed him from there, knocking him out.

Paul, the big 6'8" guy was angry that the ref stopped the fight between
him and Abbott saying that Abbott was getting tired and that he could have
turned things around. But he also said that he stands by UFC's decisions.
He wants to be in UFC VII.

Dan Severn vs. Ken Shamrock. A match of raw horsepower vs. chemicals.
Shamrock really bulked up, no doubt he was on steroids. I think he went
to the local rodeo and stocked up on hormones. Overall, he's a really
nice guy. I think the reason he won was because he trained alot longer
and harder than Dan. He brought in quite a few guys from Pancrase in to
work out with. He worked out with Fanaki. He also trained with Oleg
Tacktarov, and also his brother, to name a few. Well, I think Dan will be
more ready for the next UFC. No word on whether he'll be in another
Superfight or just a tournament. I'd really like to see Tacktarov vs.
Royce Gracie. I doubt Shamrock would fight Tacktarov, since they are
friends.

Leon Spinks was on hand to watch UFC. He is rumored to be entering UFC
VII. I hope not, the man is in no condition to fight, let alone walk.
Also on hand was John Bobbit. All I can say is, he deserved it. Also
there was David Hasselhoff form Knight Rider and Bay Watch. Ed O'Neil (Al
Bundy) was supposed to come, but he cancelled.

Next stop... Buffalo, New York. (If they aren't banned)

Yeah, I was ROTFL when they interviewed Hasselhoff. They asked him to
describe the UFC, and he said it's a lot like Baywatch, there's something
in it for everyone. Of course, in the case of Baywatch, "everyone" must
mean horny little teenagers :-). Anyway, I had heard about the Tank-P
Smith incident, thanks for giving the details. Of course, this will only
serve to get Tank over more to the bloodthirsty psychopath elitist
hardcores who rule this damn newsgroup :-)

Tank Abbot can just punch. Other than that he has no ability and should NEVER
win a UFC fight. Pat Smith has all the tools. He can punch but he can also
grapple and use submission holds. In other words, all Smith has to do is
shoot on Tank, get him down, and put him in an arm joint lock and WHAM he
gives up because he can't punch with a broken arm.

Severn lost, not because Shamrock took 'roids, because Shamrock had him in
the guillotine choke and after Severn punched him in the balls Shamrock went
to work on his neck and Severn couldn't breath.

The reason why Dan lost is because he made the first mistake and Shamrock
took advantage of it. Otherwise I thought it was a great match between
two great grapplers. I'd like to see it happen again, of course with a
different outcome. :)

I'd just like to take a moment to thank Marc for a great post giving us an
interesting perspective to what went on behind the scenes with Tank,
certainly gives us some insight to this guy's personality. I thought the
guy was trying to get over with the UFC audience by using the histrionics
of pro-wrestling. This guy is a legit goof going by what Marc posted.

Keep up the good work Marc. And Thanks.

WOW!! Is that Ed Zohn thanking me? :-)
You're welcome Ed. I finally realized how fun it is to write things
without having to bash. I hope that everyone enjoyed my post and I hope
to write a lot more as more UFC news transpires.

I agree. I've watched the show several times since Friday, and it was
actually a very good battle of strategy. Of course, it was a very short
one, but that will help fuel the notion that "anything can happen once you
step inside the octagon".

I bet Victor Quinones is happy that he already sold so many tickets for
the big stadium show in August; it will be interesting to see if this
affects Severn's "overness" as a pro wrestler.

Here's an idea: Since Shamrock and Taktarov probably won't fight each
other (they're sparring partners and all), how about two Superfights, both
of them heavily anticipated rematches: Shamrock vs. Royce and Severn vs.
Taktarov. Bring back Tank and Pat Smith, and get Ryan Parker in the
tournament, and that's a great show.

What I don't understand is why WCW would go behind Hogan's back and sign a
contract to a man that could probably beat up Hogan. Hogan probably has NO
intentions of wrestling Tank anyway so it doesnt even matter. Tank is better
than Hogan but he ain't no Pat Smith.

Christ. What a fucking idoit. If I were the promoters of UFC, I'd
sure as hell wouldn't have that Abbott guy back for ANY tournament. Except
maybe one against a Siberian Grizzly Bear.
