I've attached the "Notes to Bob" in Scoopthis revealing a *load* of
backstage dealings between Ryder/Scherer & Scoopthis. Not that anyone
cares, but I will not be visiting 1wrestling.com again. I sincerely hopes
this makes it past whichever moderator ends up getting it, as I think it is
full of some useful information.

The last Notes To Bob edition ======
Response to July 17's Notes From Bob
====================================

In today's edition of his Note From Bob, 1wrestling website owner - and
generally disliked wrestling personality - Bob Ryder once again attacks
ScoopThis.com with the type of low blow we've come to expect from World
Championship Wrestling employees. In true WCW fashion, Bob has today
chosen to to give the ending to the competition's programming. Another
brilliant career move by a man accelerating ever so rapidly down the
downward spiral of public favor.

In this case, Bob let the cat out of the bag about the July 22nd surprise
we had prepared for our fans.

Up until now, I've always made a point of addressing Bob with the respect
a popular website owner deserves. Certainly, my opinions differred from
his, but I always respected the person behind those columns. And when I
had nothing to criticize, I stayed silent.

That respect is now gone.

So take a seat, because we're going to be letting a whole lotta cats out
of a whole lotta bags today.

No more favors. No more backstage politics. This ain't your mamma's Notes
To Bob.

According to NoS, our relationship with Robert D. Ryder began when STc
first went online in August of 1997, at about the same time 1wrestling hit
the net. Bob took a liking to what was originally a parody of his
competition's work (Al Isaacs' Scoops) and gave us free plugs. STc went
through a few growing pains, a few format changes, but kept getting
stronger with each lesson learned. I signed up in late 1997 myself. As
Troy McLure would say, you may remember me from such articles as the
Ultimate Warrior expos, which was essentially a Notes to Ultimate Warrior.

Bob continued to support us. Note that he had no problem with our scathing
commentaries on the Warrior's website. That is, until we introduced 2 new
features to the site: The Wrestling Scoops Scorecard, which would take
random samples of what reporters were writing to score their long-term
accuracy, and the Notes to Bob, a rebuttal to Mr Ryder's manipulative
offerings to the masses.

Both were extremely popular in their debuts, but it wasn't long until
1wrestling emailed us to complain about them. Dave Scherer claimed it was
proposterous that Mike Samuda would be beating him on a regular basis on
the Scorecard, and that this was all the proof he needed to know the card
was rigged; Dave made it clear they would never again plug our website as
long as he was losing to Samuda on our Scorecard. As for Bob, he stopped
speaking to us altogether the minute our Notes to Bob hit the net.

We kept both the Scorecard and Notes to Bob running until there was really
nothing left to prove with either of them. STc accepted to make enemies
out of what was then the biggest wrestling site on the net for the benefit
of its readers. The readers themselves never knew of the bullying tactics
that were happening backstage.

Until January 18, 1999.

That's when Bob Ryder, realizing we decided that the price of his support
was too high and no longer cared that he stopped plugging us, pushed the
envelope a little more by issuing us the following statement :

---

"You do not have permission to publish excerpts from Notes From Bob.
Please remove any and all 1Wrestling.com content from your site
immediately.

I'm also told that you have an unauthorized sound bite of my voice on your
site. You do not have permission to use my voice on your site. Please
remove the sound bite immediately.

Please comply with the above requests within the next 24 hours.

Bob Ryder"

---

Bob never did have the peanuts to respond to any of my Notes to Bob in a
fair exchange. He was too busy doing everything he could to bully NoS
into taking them offline where no one was looking. To this day, Bob has
yet to address a single word to me, publically or privately.

But when we went public with the litigation threat, it was the first time
our readers - and his - were privvy to witnessing the kind of people we
were forced to deal with behind the scenes. Before the incredible backlash
and humiliation that followed, Bob had no choice but to issue the
following retraction :

---

"Earlier this week, I sent email to ScoopThis informing them that they
were in violation of copyright by reprinting "Notes From Bob" on their
site without protection. I did so after discussing the matter with my
attorney, and after being told that I had the right to protect my
copyrighted material.

I was legally within my rights to ask ScoopThis to remove the columns.

It was also a dumb thing for me to do.

During a period of time where I was being bombarded with hateful email
comments, many of them too vulgar to appear on an episode of RAW (sorry,
couldn't resist), I reacted by going after ScoopThis.

I have always been able to take criticism, and have shown in the past that
I have a decent sense of humor... In this situation, though, I overreacted
and lashed out by asking them to remove the column from their site.

I should not have done that, and have advised them by email that they have
permission to use the column in the future as long as they do so with
proper credit, and as long as it runs in it's entirety and is not edited
in any way."

---

Bob made this out to look like an isolated incident - a moment of
temporary insanity he truly regretted - and we didn't mind letting him.

Sure, we knew this wasn't an isolated incident. Those of us who run STc
have had to put up with the incredible egos of our friends at 1wrestling
since we went online. Bob telling us to go to hell when Dave's attempts to
get his name off our Scorecard failed is one of an endless list of
headaches we've had to put up with from them week after week.

The readers never knew. Nor do they know that Bob recently emailed us
again, just yesterday in fact, stating that because of the resurrection of
these Notes To Bob - the same he claimed no longer having a problem with
last January - he would never have anything to do with us again.

Does this sound like a man who came to terms with the mistake he made 6
months ago? Or does it sound like we were all fooled when Bob told us what
we wanted to hear to stop the bleeding?

Since Bob's in the mood to let cats out of the bag, let's open a few more.

As usual, he's writing the rules of this game and still finding ways to
lose it.

When word got out about a month back that ScoopThis.com was discussing
with various companies about possible merger or acquisition opportunities,
Dave Scherer suggested NoSoul speak to Bob about a 1wrestling/ScoopThis
merger. When NoS didn't, Dave told Bob himself, and Bob contacted NoS to
ask him what it would take to get ScoopThis on 1wrestling. NoS told him,
and Bob said he would get back to NoS at the end of summer.

In the meantime, though, a couple of email conversations with Dave Scherer
convinced NoS that 1wrestling's future was questionable. Dave had a
singular vision for the site that made no room for anything but his
deteriorating Lariat. So NoS suggested to our staff his idea for a
ScoopThis revolution and his arguments in favor of one, and the staff
unanymously decided to go ahead with this proposed plan.

Why does Bob Ryder know about the July 22nd surprise?

Because NoS made the mistake of being a nice guy. If someone's thinking of
hiring you full-time, possibly in the process of making room for you, the
least you should do is warn them that you're having doubts and considering
another path. That's what NoS did when he told Bob of his plans a week
ago, and even asked for Bob's opinions on the subject.

He didn't expect Bob to use that information for personal profit.

When Bob saw the counter on our website and heard of a coming
announcement, he knew our decision was made. He knew this Revolution idea
didn't include him. So Bob decided to tell us off in email, put a block on
all emails from us on 1wrestling, and give our secret out in today's Notes
>From Bob.

Is it starting to make more sense, now?

I won't even bother pointing out the hypocricy of Bob spoiling our ending
after claiming how dumb it was for Bischoff or Schiavone to do the same
with the WWF's programming. You guys know Bob by now. Those that don't
need only read my Notes To Bob archives. I have nothing left to teach you,
and that is why this is likely the last Notes to Bob you will see from me.
If you guys keep supporting this man after today, then I'd be wasting my
time writing more.

The next time Bob has the grapefruits to address a spoiled ending
controversy in pro-wrestling, remind him of this day.

The next time Bob tells us each company should stick to its own product,
remind him of this day.

The next time Bob complains that private email matters should remain
private, remind him of this day.

Or better yet, don't. Visiting 1wrestling is what keeps these egomaniacs
in business. And it's a sad day for 1wrestling when it hopes to attract
better ratings off of OUR surprises. If that's not proof of how desperate
they've become, what is? I mean, this is only ScoopThis.com we're talking
about here. I'm kind of proud that anything we're doing would be worth
making our competition's headlines.

The people I really feel bad for - aside from our readers who had a great
build-up ruined for them by a man that stopped caring about anything but
his own personal profit long ago - are the ones who have to work on
1wrestling beneath the glass ceiling Dave and Bob keep above them by
focusing the site's attention on one thing and one thing only - the
deteriorating Lariat. But then, if Dave wasn't so busy insulting each and
every one of his readers on an individual basis in email, maybe he'd have
more time left to actually write something, as opposed to just pasting
emails people send him.

"Copy, paste, copy, paste - splice, splice, splice... there! Another day,
another update, another $1,000."

Our faith in the professional direction of 1wrestling died a week ago when
we decided to go ahead with the July 22nd revolution concept that did not
include them.

But whatever respect we had left in the people who run it died today.

Is it any wonder ScoopsWrestling.com and WrestleLine.com have broken away
from the pack and are the only websites anyone ever talks about anymore?
This is the most anyone's said of 1wrestling in months.

I purposely left this update in a single file format because the message
here is more important than our ad impressions. It also makes it easier
for our readers to take this final Notes To Bob and paste it wherever they
think people will be interested in reading it.

Spread it. Learn from it. Don't give bullies like Bob Ryder more respect
than they've earned.

And Bob, should you get the brilliant idea of starting to actually quote
emails like the desperate and predictable SOB you've become, know that we
have 2 years worth on you and yours that would incite a backlash the likes
of which you have yet to fathom. Your true opinions on the competition
being exposed verbatim would be the least of your worries.

Because as God as my witness, I am holding back today.

Sincerely,

Trey Conway

Can I be the one to point out the fact that wrestling web sites, newsboards and
sheets constantly give away endings before they happen? Whether its taping
results before shown on TV, or contract signings before the ink is dry, 99% of
what passes for wrestling news today is "Here's what's going to happen tonight!
And tomorrow!"

So we know in advance what's happening to ScoopTHIS. Big deal. It's not like
the wrestling world was all a-flutter waiting for *that* bit of news.

Boy...ScoopTHIS is feuding with Bob Ryder. An early candidate for Worst Feud of
the Year.

Still, not that I care about Scoop This, but Bob Ryder deserves to get
his balls busted. I mean, let's forget his holier than thou rantings
for once, what was the justification for Ryder to make fun of Jim
Ross's medical condition? I mean, it wouldn't bother me for WCW to
take the low road (in fact, I expect it), what does bother me is when
WCW personalities get preachy about something (such as JR's comments
about Nicole Bass's firing) and then they (Madden, Ryder and Borash)
rag on someone else's painful and powerless cosmetic affliction, i.e.,
JR's Ball's Pallsey disease. Have they no shame? For christ sake, the
grossly obese Ryder and Madden are walking heart attack candidates.
How do they get away with ragging on Jim Ross's physical appearance? I
only wish Ryder and Madden would take their fat asses annd show
themselves on TV for once so they could be put up to that kind of
scrutiny (they'd make Tony Schiavone look like Billy Kidman).

If you don't know what I an talking about, tune into the 7/16 WCW
internet show towards the end. That's where you will hear Madden and
Ryder make fun of JR's disease. Pretty tasteless if you ask me.

Please Ryder... you have already exposed yourself as a collosal joke
("help me, I am up against a vast World Wide Web conspiracy....")....
don't expose yourself anymore 'en masse' (aside from your piece of
shit web site).

You are a joke, Ryder. Mark Madden is a joke. Please don't let your
jealously of Jim Ross blind you from the truth. You guys are no better
than the product you criticize and your jealousy-laden, inane
ramblings dig you deeper into the "proverbial" hole.

Hell, I have always hated TV preachers, and as it so turns out, most
of them are hypocritical liars. The lesson is, don't preach lessons
your asses can't cash. Ryder, Madden, WCW.... you have no moral high
ground to stand on, you are fucking shallow toadsuckers. I guess their
is a reason that JR is the most over announcer in the business. None
of your srory asses comes close (despite the JR's "funny" paralytic
disease).

<giant snip of ScoopThis's disappointment in Bob Ryder>

Wow. Can some one get me a tissue? I can't hold back the tears.
That's about the saddest thing I've ever read. Those poor guys at
ScoopThis.

Meanwhile, in on topic wrestling talk, one has to assume Sting will
beat Flair for the WCW presidency and the question becomes who will
David drop the US title to? Buff is the favorite, with Malenko a
close second, but is it possible someone else will sneak in?

And will Jeff Jarrett be (please) dropping the IC belt soon? It
almost seemed like it would be a tribute run for Owen, but now I think
it was to make us forget he ever had a tag partner.

I think it's big news to know that Erik Robichaud (aka NoSoul) is so
stupid that he would try an idea with a proven track record of failing.

Then again, the man himself has a proven track record of failing, so
perhaps it's all for the best.

ObWrestling: I hear Ric Flair is coming to Japan to cheer on his son (the
younger, talented one) in an amateur tournament. Any word about some
personal appearances he might make, like at Champions or such?

I just see it all as a setup for Shane Douglas, should they get him in
there. After all,w hyis Sting "the franchise"? Oh, so they can battle
for the rights to be "THE REAL Franchise." Watch Flair keep the
presidency.

You know, I think David could drop the belt to a stick and it would be
worth more to me in the scheme of things.
I'm pretty sure it'll go to Bagwell, but I also don't care. I've never
understood his appeal... both in the ring, and physically. Maybe his
mom will win the belt. that would be a hot feud, Judy Bagwell vs David
Flair. I hear the Steiners have an elderly great aunt who is hot for
ring action as well... check that potential.

my god, WCW is absurd.

He's just... the whole 'greatest IC champ of all time" speil would be
great if someone was actually gunning for the title. The problem with
Jarrett holding the belt is no matter what he does, he'll never draw
1/2 the heat his valet's breasts do. So it's a moot point. No one goes
after Jarrett because of the belt: they go after him to win Debra's
affections or he goes after them because they looked at her. so get
the belt on someone who has heat without breasts.

I read somewhere Edge vs Jarrett was planned for the IC belt at Fully
Loaded. (I forget where... one of the newsboards.) If so, this is
good. Put the belt on Edge, let Gangrel and him feud for the belt,
throw D'Lo and Al Snow in there and it's INSTANT interest.

But will that happen?

pixie, who for the record, couldn't care less about Bob Ryder.

I can't answer that, but do you realize? Ric is *already* getting
Reid that all important experience of wrestling in Japan that we hear
people talk about so much, lately.

Reid is going to come back and take the US strap fromDavid on his way
to becoming the youngest world heavyweight champ of all time!

I know most of you usenetians only know Bob from his 1wrestling stuff, but
Bob's been around for a while. He got his start on Prodigy, and eventually
became the Area Coordinator of the wrestling area there. Since Bob has become a
"name" poster, long before he was a Prodigy AC, heck, even before the
development of the WWW, let alone 1Wrestling, he's been called a WCW shill. Say
what you want about his opinions, but Bob doesn't have them because of any
financial things from Bischoff.
