Clash of the Indies 2002
FAQ Version 1.0
A. Who runs this thing?
B. What is the purpose of this tournament?
C. How is this going to work?
D. So where do I sign up?
A. Who runs this thing?
Real life:
Instead of running a tournament by yourself, which is an asinine thing
to do, a group of us have come together to create what we think will be
the better tournaments to grace the e-wrestling world. The committee
includes Richard Balsley, handler of "Cream of the Crop" Mike Waldrop in
the EMWC and NEO; Josh Ritter, handler of Messiah in the EMWC and NEO,
and Lucas McCall in GIW; and Wallie Desruisseaux, handler of Rosco
Riggins in RCW, and November in EMWC, he's also the fed head of NEO.
We're a bunch of guys with some spare time on our hands and a good idea
of what should [and should not] be done in an e-wrestling tournament.
Fictional:
A group of small independent wrestling investors from the Michigan, and
neighboring Canada region took interest in a tournament dubbed Clash of
the Champions. This tournament took the best eight of what Michigan
state wrestling had to offer and put them together in a one night only
event to crown the best wrestler in the state of Michigan. The success
of this tournament caught on over the years, and now this group of
investors wants to capitalize on the success it had in Michigan and
bring it world wide by taking the best on the independent scene. NEO
Wrestling has given their facilities to use for the tournament, and in
exchange will be showcasing some of their own talent.
B. What is the purpose of this tournament?
The basic idea of this tournament is to find the best of the unknown
e-wrestling talent out there. There are hundreds, if not thousands,
federations in this game, with thousands upon thousands that handle in
these federations. For most of us, we look to RSPWF for what we
determine the best wrestlers are and the best federations, and time and
time again we see the same big names clutter the top twenty-five. Well,
we're looking to change that.
Enter: Clash of the Indies. This is an eight man tournament designed to
find the best of the unknown talent out there. This doesn't mean a well
known handler with a brand new character he, or she, is trying to
develop. We are trying to find the best of the new breed. This is for
new, unknown talent only!
C. How is this going to work?
Well, it's simple. Between now and April 7th, 2002 there will be the
application process. All applications will be reviewed by the three of
us and we will determine which eight characters get into the tournament.
The basis of deciding who gets in will be based on the best eight
applications we received. This is NOT first come first
served...otherwise, we'd end up like Wrestlebowl or Weekend to
Remember...
In order to even be acknowledged in the tournament, you MUST fill out
the application as is. Any half-assed applications will be tossed out.
Following directions [and deadlines] is key. Once we have narrowed down
the applicants to the people who can read and follow directions, we'll
have a week long screening process where we determine, based on
applications and sample roleplays, who gets in.
Following the screening process, we'll send out a much more concrete
outline of what is expected of the handlers throughout the tournament.
This will be your standard deadlines and what not. I'd like to set
deadlines now, but as we all know, deadlines in e-wrestling were made to
be broken. So for now, we'll just play it by ear on how things go as far
as when flashes are due, strats, etc.
As far as formatting goes, there will be three weeks of flashes,
followed by a press conference, and then Clash of the Indies will be put
out. All in all, it should be a five week affair once we get rolling.
Since there are eight guys in the tournament, it looks like we'll run
with seven tournament matches and perhaps one or two super bout matches
for filler with some NEO guys, since the event is being held at the NEO
Arena in Edmonton. So, it looks to be around eight or nine matches,
which would be easy to put out in a day or so.
D: So where do I sign up?
Send all applications to clashoft...@hotmail.com
Please fill out the applications entirely. If you do not, your app will
be thrown out. Either myself, Josh, or Wallie will be getting in contact
with the guys who made it and let you all know what will be going down
in terms of deadlines and all that jazz. DEADLINE FOR ALL APPLICATIONS
IS APRIL 7th, 2002!!!
