Jake Morgan: What now?
Angel: Who were those flowers really for?
[Jake looks uncomfortable.]
Jake Morgan: You got them, didn’t you?
[Angel shakes her head, but still seems unconvinced.]
Angel: Yeah well, I overheard Neal and Flaxen talking, and Neal said those
flowers were for her.
[She looks hurt and upset. A flash of anger passes over Jake’s face at the
mention of Neal and Flaxen.]
Jake Morgan: You actually listened to Neal? I thought you hated him?
[Grabbing her by the shoulders, he turns her to face him.]
Listen, Neal is a moron, who would tell anyone, anything if he thought it
would be beneficial to him. Trust me. Now, I have a match to go announce.
[Angel grabs Jake and gives him a big hug. Rolling his eyes, Jake gives her a
pat on the back before moving away. Shaking his head, he can be heard
muttering.]
Jake Morgan: I'm going to f{BLEEP}ing kill him.
[Moving off, the camera finds Lars traipsing around his pink decorated locker
room when the door snaps open, startling him. Looking over the large man's
shoulder, the camera looks in as the man hands over what appears to be a sign.
Looking down at it then to the hidden man in front of him.]
Man: I need your help ... I’ll do anything.
[With a sly smile crossing his lips, again Lars is startled as the door again
flies open and in steps an angered Ricky Starr. Looking at the man in front of
Lars, Starr brushes past him before stepping up to the “Pastel Avenger”.
Jabbing a finger into Lars’ chest, Starr gets his message across.]
Ricky Starr: I WANT YOU!!!!!
Lars: Oh my ...
[With a glassy eyed look, Lars drops his sign to the floor. As Starr storms
off, the camera zooms in on the sign ... “JAKE MORGAN WEIGHT LOSS CENTER”.
Leaving them, the camera finds a limping Shorti Blaze with her brother, Billy
Blaze walking through the backstage area.]
Billy Blaze: What's the matter?
Shorti Blaze: It's nothing. I'll be ready for whatever happens tonight ...
[Grimacing in pain, she stops when the blue and gold clad Flaxen saunters into
view, a big smile on her face as she makes eye contact with Billy, drawing his
gaze. Cocking her head, Flaxen steps up to Billy with an overly suggestive
walk. Smiling, she leans in close, causing the Young Gun champ to blush as she
whispers into his ear. A deep shade of red crosses his face as she steps back.]
Billy Blaze: Meet you in the ring? Tonight? You bet!!!
[Walking off, Flaxen stops in her tracks, turning back to Billy and the eye
rolling Shorti. With a slight bend, she blows a kiss at Billy before walking
off. Shaking her head, Shorti limps off when a clock’s ticking loudly sounds
in the background. With the screen going black, the clock face of a logo
hurtles through the ebony space before settling into view. With the clock face
fading into the background, faces and names flash by quickly.
The Mean Green Mascot - Mexican superstar, Ieta Fujita - Ricky Starr - The pink
clad team of Pretty in Pink, Lars and Billy Blaze with Raoul - Agent of
L.O.V.E., Harry Palmer - Weed - All American Buddy Lee Jr. - and finally, the
Television Champion, Jake Morgan and an angry Angel Rotten.
As the last of the pictures fade, the camera makes a swing through a small but
packed television studio before focussing in on two men sitting at the ringside
announcers’ table. The two men are a contrast in looks, one in a sports coat
while the other one is in a Hawaiian shirt, leather pants and a matching hat.]
Howard Butz: We've got alot to get to this week, Dillon, so let’s get
straight to business. Next week ...
Dillon Diamond: Oh, yeah ... next week. Halloween just around the corner and 30
Minute Countdown puts on it’s second Double Trouble taping in Faces of Fear.
The first taping was full of surprises, what this one will bring is anyone’s
guess but I’ll go on record saying this will be just as good if not better.
And ... you better believe that Jake Morgan will be a big part of it.
Howard Butz: Here we go again. Listen folks, don’t go away. WE’LL BE RIGHT
BACK!
*** COMMERCIAL BREAK ***
Commercials, commercials, commercials - all in the name of “free
television”. We endure this crap just so we don’t have to pay for our
programming but is it really free? Not really because when you think about it,
every hour long block of television is spliced with twenty to nearly twenty
five minutes of commercials. And to make matters worse, for our “free
television”, we’re dishing out anywhere from thirty to seventy-five bucks a
month to the cable companies just to have a few worthwhile channels on top of
tons of crap channels that no one watches.
On a positive note ... drink Dr. Pepper! It makes the world taste better!
Nothing like being hooked!
*** COMMERCIAL BREAK ***
[Returning from the break finds Butz and Diamond arguing.]
Dillon Diamond: If I were you, I’d be careful what I said about Jake Morgan.
You know, he told me that you were near the top of his list ...
Howard Butz: He did not. There’s no list ...
Dillon Diamond: You heard what he said this past week. I’d think it’s a
safe bet that he put you as well as a few others on notice.
Howard Butz: On notice? Oh, please.
Dillon Diamond: I’m just telling you what I heard.
Howard Butz: What did he tell you?
Dillon Diamond: Oh, now you want to know ... all I have to say is that I’d
really watch what I say about Jake Morgan ...
[Butz rolls his eyes as a loud round of booing sounds from the small studio
audience crowd.]
Howard Butz: What’s Jake going to do? Beat me up?
[Diamond smirks as the target of the booing steps up behind Butz, towering over
him ... the Television champ, Jake Morgan.]
Dillon Diamond: Maybe you should ask him?
[Seeing the shadow cast from behind him, Butz gulps deeply as a pair of hands
rest on his shoulder.]
Jake Morgan: Want to ask me something, Butz?
Howard Butz: Nope, sure don’t Jake.
[Shaking his head, Morgan sits down between the pair.]
Dillon Diamond: Great to see you as always, Jake.
Howard Butz: To what do we owe this honor of your presence?
Jake Morgan: It’s important for everyone to see THEIR champion ... that’s
your champion, too, Butz. And don’t you forget it.
Howard Butz: Don’t you worry about that, Jake ... we know all too well. Maybe
a little too well.
Jake Morgan: You’re not getting smart with me, are you Butz?
Howard Butz: Perish the thought. Looks like we'll have to take up this
interesting conversation at a later date, Jake. We’ve got a match to get to
... and here comes Ricky Starr ...
[Stepping out from the back, Starr makes it halfway to the ring to a loud round
of cheering when “Brown Sugar” starts to blare over the PA system. Looking
upset, Starr enters the ring with a flip over the ropes.]
Howard Butz: Speaking of Ricky, rumor has it that you won’t give him a title
shot.
Jake Morgan: Easy question, even easier answer. This kid is good but there’s
no way that he deserves a shot at a veteran like myself. You want to get to me,
there’s a long bumpy road you have to go through to get there. Am I right,
Dillon?
Dillon Diamond: Oh, absolutely, Jake. Absolutely. You don't want the kid to get
hurt.
Jake Morgan: Don't get me wrong, he’s good but he couldn’t even beat Billy
Blaze and if you can't beat Blaze, you’re certainly don’t belong in the
ring with me.
Howard Butz: Speaking of Billy, here comes his partner, Lars accompanied to the
ring with his faithful companion, Raoul.
[Entering the ring, Lars waves to Starr across from him. A disgusted wave off
is all he gets in return. After being checked over by Robin, Lars and Raoul
share a hug before the bell is rung.]
*** Ding *** Ding ***
With Starr coming across the ring, Lars blows a kiss towards his adversary.
With a look of disgust, Starr picks up the pace, charging in after him, missing
a double axehandle as Lars dips out of the way. With Starr’s back to him,
Lars gives him a swift pat on the backside and a little wave as Starr complains
to the referee.
Jake Morgan: And this is a guy you want me to face? Please.
Howard Butz: All I’m asking is why you’re ducking ...
Jake Morgan: Ducking? Whenever Ricky Starr makes his way to the Number One
contender spot, I’ll be more than happy to face him.
Howard Butz: You’ve faced others that weren't in that spot. What gives?
Jake Morgan: Sometimes, you need to make an example of people, Butz ... and
I’m starting to feel one of those times coming on.
Doing a dance across the ring from Starr, Lars shakes his booty, further
incensing Starr. Grabbing the retreating Lars, Starr sends him across the ring.
Bouncing off the ropes, Lars is smashed into the canvas with a drop toe hold.
Pulling Lars to his feet, Starr hops up onto the ropes. Walking across the top
rope, he dives off, throwing Lars over with a diving arm drag.
Howard Butz: Starr with a leg. He’s got a spinning toe hold, trying to ground
Lars.
With Lars crying out in pain, Starr spins several times, wrapping the leg
around his own. Unentangling himself, Starr sits down into a leg drop. Going
into a quick handstand, Starr drops down with a knee to the thigh.
Jake Morgan: Smart wrestling here by Starr but just not good enough.
Bouncing to his feet, Starr heads to the near ropes, eyeballing the seated
Morgan, who waves him off.
Jake Morgan: This is exactly my point. Starr’s more worried about me than
focusing on the task at hand and that’s the guy in the ring with him. Beat
that guy first, take care of business, then come looking for the next guy.
Dillon Diamond: I have to agree with you there, Jake.
Returning to Lars, Starr rolls him over before grabbing his leg by the ankle.
Lifting it high into the air, he slams the knee down into the mat bringing a
pained cry from his foe.
Howard Butz: Of course, you do.
Dillon Diamond: Hey, he’s the champion.
With Lars limping away, Starr takes him down with a drop kick to the injured
leg. Dragging Lars to the center of the ring, Starr pulls him up by the hair,
threatening him with a closed fist. With Lars pleading, Robin steps in with a
count for the closed fist.
Howard Butz: Ricky Starr continues to work over Lars’ leg.
Jake Morgan: That wouldn’t be happening if I was the official in there ...
Howard Butz: What should she be doing?
Jake Morgan: You have to come right out and establish control. You can’t let
either man take advantage of the situation.
Paying attention to the ref, Starr is open for a low blow. With his opponent
doubled over in pain, Lars draws a warning from Robin.
