Check out the article in the sept. issue JET SPORTS magazine it has a
article about some water testing that went on at" lake X" a mercury marine test
station. The Marine Exhaust Research Council did a 4 year test on the water
quality on lake X . The average fuel comsumption is 340,000 gallons of gas and
oil per year. This translates to 68,000 engine hours at 5 gallons per hour per
engine ,equivalant to 680 boaters operating for 100 hrs. per year. Testing has
been going there for over 40 yrs.

Testing results concluded no evidence of contamination and phytoplankton and
bottom organisms which were necessary for a heathly ecological chain, were not
effected by exhaust water hydrocarbons.

Where is the epa doing all there water testing at, and who are they paying
off to fudge the reading. Leave us alone and go stick your probe up somebody
else exhaust pipe.Better yet stick up your ass

While I would prefer to see more pro-pwc reports, Jetsports articles are no
less biased than those one reads in a sierra club journal or BWN publication.
food for thought

I was at Laughin this weekend and someone told me that all two strokes are
banned from the Colorado River in 2005 is this true.

Not that I have heard of... 2 strokes are 3/4 of all the travel revenue the
areas around the Colorado river bring in. I would think that would be
financial suicide for them to do it.

I am trying to find this magazine, but having no luck. Can you confirm
the magazine name and give me the publisher's name and address?

Thanks!

Hmmm.....you've never heard of Jet Sports Magazine? You must be on the
other side of the argument. Must not be a member of the IJSBA.

Not hardly the "other side" - just much more familiar with outboards
(and way too familiar with folks using partial facts to enact bans on
boating). Never mind, a friend is faxing me the article and I've got
the original report on my desk now. Was really curious about the date
of the study, and wanted to see how I could use the facts to support
boating.

Having been on the defensive myself, I appreciate your answerless
response. Turns out that where I live, the magazine is not carried at
our 1(yes, only 1) major newstand. And - I couldn't find it at the
grocery stores, quick-marts, or Walmart. That's why I was wondering
about the magazine title and publisher reference. (There were, however,
lots and lots of snowmobiling magazines!)

Jetsports is a magazine put out by the IJSBA. A subscription is given to
all IJSBA members. Some dealers and performance shops sell it on the rack.
You won't find it at many news stands.
