You probably need a regulator. If it is not regulating correctly, you will
get too much juice from the mag and blow the fuse. Also, check all grounds
in the boat, including the grey box.

Never install a larger fuse! The fuse is there to protect electronics
downline from it, and if you install a larger fuse you stand a good chance of
destroying expensive equiptment. Fix your problem, don't try to band-aid it.

I know that but at the time I was short on money and this ski was
basically a back up. I admit I shouldn't have done it but it is
basically a lemon and I had put way too much money into it already (2
rebuilt motors, pump problems, etc.) I had given up on it and had
bought a new one already.

check all the grounds in the electrical box, and check the rectifier/regulator

Curious, what did you buy?

true, however if you blow the rectifier output fuse you just
don't charge the battery. I know, ive been running with a bad
rectifier and a blow fuse for a year now.
(total loss ignition! <g>)

Must be the "other" fuse in the box...If I remember I'll check
the manual for some insight. What color wire on the fuse line?

The higher rated fuse, while an extremely risky experiment, does
give some useful info. Since it changes the time to failure
you pprobably have some component drawing a tad too much current
(an intermittant dead short would blow any fuse the same).
I'd suspect a stator coil is going..

Definitely not a Sea Doo. I bought a 95 Yamaha Raider 1100 that I
haven't had a problem with yet. Also, as to which fuse blew, it is
the 5 amp fuse and it has a red and white wire.

Frank your 5 amp fuse supplies power to or through the relay which goes
to the rev limiter, buzzer, temp sensor, start/stop switch power, power
to any gauges that are on your boat. Try unplugging the fuel gauge/tach
from the electrical box if equipped and see if your problem goes away.
Another thought would be a broken leg in the relay that plugs into the
electrical box. You can buy a new relay at any electronic parts store
for about $6.00 compared to the $25+ that Seadoo wants for the exact
same part. Or find someone who has updated to the newer 93 style which
does away with the removable relays, they will have two relays that are
on the old CDI.
