I bought a 1995 seadoo xp in june of 1999, and ive had problems since ive
bought it. I seem to get a lot of water in the hull of the boat, which some
how gets into the cylinders. How is this happening? Also the heat sensor
buzzer constantly goes off, even though i dont think it's hot. The dealer said
it may be a defective sensor, so we unplugged the wires, which shut the buzzer
off. This weekend the boat was running fine, and all of the sudden it shut
down. It doesnt seem to want to turn over, even with the spark plugs out. How
can i tell if the engine is seized up?

He could have locked up the pump.

HI MY NAME IS OLIVER. I HAVE THE SAME BOAT AS U AND THE ONLY PROBLEM
WITH MINE SO FAR IS THAT THE GAS GAUGE DOESN'T WORK. ANSWERING YOUR
PROBLEM IS FIRST OF ALL YOU SHOULDN'T OF DISCONNECTED THE OVER HEAT
BUZZER, YOU SHOULD OF FIX IT RIGHT AWAY. IT WAS PROBABLY RIGHT THE
MOTOR WAS OVER HEATING. THE REASON YOU PROBABLY HAVE WATER IN THE BOAT
MAYBE IS YOUR EXUAST PIPE IS WORN OR THERES A LEAK YOU CAN'T SEE IN THE
PIPE, AND THATS THE ONLY WAY WATER CAN GET IN OTHER THEN YOUR DRIAN PLUG
OR SUBMERGING THE BOAT.

Gee, I think that IS the way you find out that it is seized. If it doesn't
turn over, that's it!! As far as the sensor buzzing all the time, I'd say it's
from the water getting into the cylinders. The water corrodes the internal
engine parts, which causes overheating. I'm not sure I'd trust the mechanic
that disconnected the sensor.
Basicly, you now have a big repair bill. BUY A SHORT BLOCK. Don't bother
having them repair the old engine. The repair costs will likely be the same. If
you're smart, you'll keep all the old parts, and sell them, to offset the cost
of repairs. I'm sure the cases and borable cylinders are worth $100 to
somebody. If I remember correctly, a NEW shortblock from sea-doo runs about
$1800, but don't quote me on that. If you want an exact price, call you dealer.

This is my guess as to what happened:
Thier are several water lines inside your engine compartment, one has obviously
come loose causing loss of water pressure to the engine(causing overheat) and
filling the hull. When you turn your ski with a hull full of water you ingest water
into your carbs. You need to kick your F$%$@# dealer in the A%#$ by unplugging the
overheat sensor you just ignored the problem of a loose water line/cooling problem.
There is one water line that is very hard to see, it tees off of both cylinders
between the expansion chamber (tail cone portion) and the cylinders, you may need a
mirror to see it.Check your Battery and starter for proper operation if that is not
the cause I would pull the cylinder head to see the condition of the cylinders and
check for siezure. If it is not siezed (which its sounds like it is) and you get
the ski running leave it on the trailer back it down in the water and run it until
you find the the leak.
Hook the overheat sensor back up and keep in mind when running it on the trailer
that it is not getting proper cooling. Let your dealer know what happened when you
unhooked the sensor. I cant believe he told you to unhook it knowing all the other
symptoms you described.
Hope you get it running and if you
need more detail let me know

WIrivin, if this post is for real. First off your dealer is a DUMBASS!!!!
Did you tell him there was water getting in the hull? Unbelievable!!!! The
water in hull is probably coming from a leaky coolant hose. You either
overheated it and or ingested water into the cylinders. Either way, I'd
find a new dealer to perform the repairs!!!! The head will need to be
pulled off to truly see extent of the damage.
