Yamaha-Not too bad about getting to things. Exhaust bolts where you can
get to them.
Seadoo-As usual a mechanics nightmare. To remove the stator, you have
to disassemble the entire rear of the engine. As the flywheel/stator
are on the rear of the engine, you are going to have to pull the engine
out.
Honda-Finally someone thinking. Removeable side panels on the hull.

Removable what on the where??? Are you kidding me or what here... How
secure are these panels that you say are removable?? Are we going to start
seeing any failures here because of this or is there a real secure way to
keep them on with out coming off during your ride?

Actually, I believe it was Sonic Jet that originally had removable side
panels of some of their craft several years ago. But I do like the idea...
from a mechanics POV.

Laz,
There was a Decker built Polaris 650 SL at the 1993 Chicago tour race with
removable panels. The IJSBA made them glass it up before they allowed them
to race it. It also sported the first triple pipes that we saw on tour.

FYI, and some ramblings......
We discussed the possibility of only allowing amatuers to race 4 strokes
next year in IJSBA "stock" form. This was due to the fact that nobody knows
how these boats will work on a track, or wether they will be competitive
with each other, and that we don't know how many people would buy a $10K
boat and void their warranties by modifying them. Then we decided to submit
another proposal to have an F-1 type 4 stroke class, with 1800cc's, 650 lbs,
and unleaded fuel, oem type decks as the only rules. Whoo-Hoo ! Talk about a
fast class ! Expensive too :) Maybe just basically a factory big money
class, more of an exibition class. Can you imagine the crowd reaction to
seeing a Honda 500+hp runabout in front of the grandstands at next years
finals ? Maybe on an oval track against Sea Doo and Yamaha's best blown or
turbo'ed 4 strokers ? A very exciting prospect. Wonder if the manufactuers
would get interested in something like this ?
We need a shot in the arm in this sport. The second round of motos Sunday
were boring, IMO.
The announcers flat sucked. It would be nice if they actually watched the
races they were announcing, and cut alot of the trash talking out of the
broadcasting. Not very professional, IMO.

I dont see why not. People are buying a $10k RXX with no warranty, they are
buying a $9000 GPR (OTD) and voiding the warranty.

Myself and a few others will race the 4 stroke on tour if a class is available.

Try novice stock and pro-am stock 4 stroke for the regionals and a expert and
pro 4 stroke class for the tour... I think you will be surprised how well it
does for a first year class.

Pat M,
The side panels are bolted on. Will not be a problem coming off during a ride.

About the announcers, bill you and me actually agree, I long for a vin
scully type who actually annouces the names of the racers, keeps track
of the race and is clear and professional on the mike, this would
definately help the few fans that are unrelated to the sport to
understand whats going on! Basically the announcers were advertizing
for kokomo's the whole week, like their is somewhere else to go!!!
Note: Honda instead of paying the advertizing fee had their sitdowns
out in the dirt parking lot, their was a crowd around them, they are
definately sportier then the other 4 strokes by a longshot, if the
whole crowd knew they were out their on sunday I donot think they
would have watched the racing for with a track that small, once a
favorite got in the lead that was it, the race was done
ala terra, mac and jacobs their the ones that are suppose to win
anyway, the only excitement was bozzio in the first 1200 main and the
antics of rius, otherwise sunday was very boring!!
Oh yeah when dustin battled back in the first main to beat jacobs was
thrilling!
Hard luck award, a peice of tire jump in the kawi scoop!!! It was motz
moment and then it was gone!!!

I really like the idea of the companies making four strokes because it will
help our poor image, but man those are some BIG ASS BOATS! I will stick with
my ski and blaster. If I need a boat, I will buy a boat.

I felt the same way when I was 16.
Now the family comes first, and the blaster is a gift for the lil ones.
