SeaDoo GTX DI problem help.........

Every year my GTX DI will go into a default mode and not go over 30 mph
and the alarm keeps blairing. This time it says "maintenance needed 12v
low". Now I just put in a brand new gel battery so I know the voltage
is not low. I think something is screwed up in the "brain" of this
thing. Is there a way I can reset this default mode myself so I can go
faster than 30mph without the alarm blasting me? The dealer is of no
help, they say nothing is wrong with it, so I either cut some wires or
trade this in for a different one. BTW its a 2002 GTX DI. Any ideas
from anyone?

Do you know if your charging system is working properly??

That will do it every time. And SeaDoo's are notorious for eating their
charging rectifier/regulators.

there is some type system which keeps the battery charged?, because I

All PWC's have a charging system stock from the factory. Yours is
mounting on the side of your main computer. Put a meter across your
battery posts. Take note of the reading. Crank the ski and then take
note of the reading. If there was an increase of voltage to around
13.5-13.8 your charging system is working. If not get ready to spend
about $137 for a new rectifier.

Dave, I check the battery like you said:
Before start up the voltage was 12.5v
After start up the voltage increased to 14v
So I guess that is not the problem, any other ideas. By the way, when
the problem happens, if I run the ski for a while, then shut it down
and resart, the problem goes away and I can go over 30mph and no alarm.
Not sure what that means, any idea??

The dealer should be able to pull up the fault code and be able to tell
what it says. Even though it is charging, I guess the rectifier could
still be working intermittantly.
