Way to go Eddie Beverley with the Rossier Pipe! 2nd Expert 1200 SS with a
Seadoo is pretty good.

Is the IJSBA really going to GIVE Avery Williams the win in expert 1200 SS when
he missed a bouy(twice). It sucks when the course marshalls make a bad call and
it effects the points so drastically. Avery should have finished way back. With
only 8 stops on the tour now every point counts. But maybe thats why there is
so little interest in the National Tour anymore.

Which buoys did he miss? On a another note it was a little hairy there with
the twoGPR's and the Kawi on the inside first corner. What happened to the
Kawi (Darnell?), did he get hit? I was bummed to see him pull out, but no as
bummed as him I am sure =( I caught a good pic of that congested turn.

I'm not positive about this but I think I got most of that race on tape. I'll
try to look at it and see what there is to see but I don't remember Avery
missing any bouys. I don't remember who made the comment about the Kawi earlier
but he was doing quite well until he got hit from behind while in the air I
think it was. I'll try to look at it and see. When those 2 riders were in the
water it was pretty nasty. They almost got run over by the whole field of
racers. I'll check it out though and let you know.

Ok well I watched the tape. LUDWIG HOCHSTRASSER was leading for the first lap
on a SeaDoo with JOHN DEITZ on the Kawi STX in 2nd. AVERY WILLIAMS was in 3rd
and KENNETH RITCHIE was in 4th. When they came around the back side of the
course Ludwig went way out (must have thought there was a bouy out there)
beyond the yellow bouy on the right with Deitz following him in the excitment I
guess. Williams didn't fall for that and was able to make a pass on Deitz just
by heading straight for the yellow bouy. Ludwig and John wouldn't want to see
my video because they went way out there with a rather large lead. I was
sitting on that side of the beach so I got a pretty good shot of that and what
was to happen next. Just as Avery went under Deitz he slowed for some reason
(either he let off for the wave in front of him or a seaweed problem) and Deitz
turned hard to avoid running up his back. He hit the wave sideways, there was a
wall of water that I couldn't see through, but the next wave washed the Kawi
towards me upside down in the water and the Yamaha rider with the light blue
paint (the pa said Hardwick but he wasn't always paying attention) went flying.
I don't think he hit the Kawi but who knows for sure. They were both standing
in the water when the rest of the field just about ran them over. Back to
Avery, when he slowed and Deitz turned to avoid him Ritchie went by both of
them for 2nd place. While I was filming Deitz trying to get back to his boat
alive the pa said the leader went down and Ritchie is in the lead. At about the
4th lap Ritchie and Williams tried to go around a lapped rider on both sides
and Williams might have missed the finish bouy but he still went back to pick
it up. Eddie Beverley was in third at this point. On the back straight it
seemed Ritchie had a seaweed problem because Williams blew passed him and
Beverley caught him before the far right bouy. Williams hit the yellow bouy on
the far right on this lap but the bouy clearly goes to his right (correct side)
so that was legal. On the next lap Williams has to slow and correct at the last
minute to make the finish bouy but again clearly makes the bouy. He gets the
white flag that time by and completes the next lap with no problem and goes on
to win the race. I did notice that the last yellow bouy before the finish line
disappeared in the middle of the race while Ritchie was in the lead and I think
Williams noticed it before Ritchie so Williams was allowed to close the gap but
Williams lost all he gained when he went back for the bouy.

Anyway, I'm sure this clears the air on the missed bouy. I filmed Williams for
almost the whole race after the Deitz crash. He made every bouy that I could
see. He probably made the finish bouy that he went back for but I couldn't see
the bouy clearly in my film. Let me know if you have anymore questions
regarding this race.

I think I caught that pass, the Kawi turn off thing you spoke about, on
film. In the pic you can see Williams on the outside and the Kawi on the
inside. The kawi is turning toward the shore very sharp, but he appears to
be on a lip of a wave? I'll try to post it to the
'alt.binaries.pictures.jetski" group. I also have a copy of it at
www.pwctoday.com in the "gallery"section, under
"events","2001","protour","round4","matt Burkhard" "1200Expert". The pic is
named "Exp1200ss3n".
Here is a direct link but it may not work

Is that what your talking about? It was a pretty good race to watch. Thanks
for the time to post a play by play.
