As far as XP vs. GSX, my XP800 out accelerates the GSX by about two boat
lengths but the GSX quickly makes that up and passes me in any kind of
chop. In smooth water I can maintain a slight lead.

I also own a 96 GTX and was wondering if you have tried skiing behind
it yet? How does it pull a skier, can you get up on one ski (enough power)?
I have not yet bought all the ropes, skies, etc. to try mine out yet. Any
thoughts would be great.
Jim.
I too own a '96 GTX which I am still breaking in. I haven't yet tried to pull a skier. However,
I also own a '95 GTX and since I can pull a slalom skier with it (the skier has to adjust his style
a bit if he/she is used to holding the ski on vertical for a long time before coming out of the water),
I assume that the RAVE powered '96 GTX with 30 additional HP will have little problem pulling a
slalom skier. The heaviest slalom skier I have successfully towed with my '95 GTX weighed 195 lbs.

That does not sound bad, looks like I am going to have to buy a rope
and some skies (girlfriend still learning and needs two). What size of rope
should I get? Do you find a shorter rope works better with a JetSki, or do
you just use the std lenght rope (same as boat).
Any advise on skies to buy, I really don't want to spend more than
$200.00 on some skies. Thanks for the info,
Jim.

Hurry up and post your results!! and do you have info on the GTX (including what was
wrong with it ;-) )
although i have been told that the HX will beat the XP in chop i am VERY surprised to
hear that it can get anywhere near the GTX !!
also i would expect the GTX to beat the HX on smooth water.
i have seen on almost glass water a max of 55mph on my GTX speedo with the info center
recording a max of 59MPH (why the difference, anyone have any ideas ????)
after i completed the first 10 hours on my GTX i filled it up with gas and took it
to a local river that was almost glass and run it up and down the river full throttle
for just over an hour
THE TOP SPEED DID NOT CHANGE !!!
i used a whole tank of petrol and my last speed runs were done while on reserve with
me (215lbs) laying flat on the seat with my head below the handle bars (even though
i knew that i was the only thing on the river it still concerned me that i couldn't
see where i was going :-( ) )
so my point being given that weight doesn't seem to have any effect on the speed (i did
notice the increased acceleration as the fuel decreased) why haven't all of the rave
engined craft got the same top speed ???????
does anybody know how much 15 gallons of fuel weigh ??
i would guess that it is more than the weight difference between the GTX and the GSX
and possibly the XP as well.
Am i missing something obvious here ???
What is the drag co-efficient of each craft :-)
HELP !!!!
any comments Carl
although we all know that accept that pwc speedo's aren't accurate are they getting
better ???
all of the 96 GTX owners have been posting consitent speed figures 54/55 and a peak of
58/59 on the info center, doesn't 54/55 sound remarkably close to what you would expect
to get from a radar gun for this machine ???

94/96 GTX.
Dave,
Your comment above puzzles me, 3weeks ago while out at Coyote I hit a
top speed of 55 on a friends 96 GTX. The top speed for that day was
59mph not by me but a friend as shown on LCD. conditions light wind
3-5, calm lake.

You cannot go by what the speedos indicate.
Conrad
The speed differences are caused by "wetted" area and impeller pitch
differences.
