Can anyone help???

The ski seems to go alright for about 10 mins, then doesn't seem to rev out
as much, on taking off the cover, reveiling a steaming engine with the hull
full of an oily watery mess, I have no Idea what is wrong?

while running a hose through it, a water leak appears trough the hose
between manifold and the exhaust..

what makes the water suck up from underneath to the engine???

if anyone can enlighten me, it would be appreciated, thankyou

Toby. u.k. :)

Toby, water to the engine is supplied via the pressurized pump
while the engine is running and the pump is in water. This water
is forced through a hose into the exhaust manifold for preheating
prior to it's introduction into the cylinder for cooling. Water flows
around the jacketed area in the cylinder and then up to the head
and then out to the exhaust header. Inside the header pipe, near
the outlet side is a hole through which water is injected into the
exhaust to help tune the pipe and to help prevent the hoses from
melting. On the stock setup, there is a drain tube on the bottom
side of the pipe to prevent water from filling the pipe and hence
getting into the engine. Check and replace hoses as required.
The most likely reason you are not getting the rpm range you
should be is due to the steam/exhaust buildup inside the engine
compartment choking the motor. There should be no water leaks
in this system, other than the overboard discharge and the internal
"pee hole" as described.

I had the same prob with my 650sx this weekend. Everything you described
accept the prob was that my exhaust pipe had come loose and the coupling was
loose. The water and smoke were emptying into the engine compartment. The
reason water is taken in is to cool the engine. Drain the ski and get a new
hose for the exhaust. BTW: do you have curved hoses or are they straight for
the exhaust? I have recently changed waterboxes and I have to have hoses
curved at a 90degree angle to fit. I was just wonderring because I used
radiator hoses and they want to flex back and that is putting pressure on the
pipe and waterbox.

You have a water and exhaust leak from the leak in the hose. Fix it.

You need to order O.E. hoses for a 91 or later
650 they have the bendyou need . I just installed
a factory pipe on my 89 650sx the instructions
recommended I replace the hoses. They worked
great. They were kind of pricey though.
