As a report indicated yesterday, Link Gaetz was suspended for 10 games
yesterday. This left the Sharks with only 5 healthy defenseman, as Jayson
More joined the rank of the injured defensemen, as he suffered a sprained knee
Friday night against the Penguins. More is expected to be out for a week. As
a result, the Sharks recalled defenseman Pat MacLeod from Kansas City.
MacLeod, who opened the season withthe Sharks, had 2 goals and 7 assists in 23
games. MacLeod is expected to be available today against the Maple Leafs.

Meanwhile, the Sharks traded minor league forward Murray Garbutt to the Quebec
Nordiques for left wing Don Barber. Barber had his best season with Minnesota
in '89-'90, when he had 15 goals and 19 assists in 44 games, but has played
mostly for the Nordiques' AHL affiliate Halifax this year. Garbutt had 9
goals and 21 assists in 44 games for Kansas City.

Neil Wilkinson might be ready to return after missing 13 games because of back
problems. Meanwhile, Bob McGill, who has often been discussed in trade rumors,
might have to be forced back into the lineup because of the injuries. If the
Sharks can't get the defensemen better soon, Kansas City might be in trouble
for the IHL playoffs.

This was a surprise to me, as I thought it was MacLeod who was traded
to Hartford for Paul Fenton. Since that's obviously not the case, can
someone fill me in on who _was_ traded?

thx

Two articles later, I read the Sharks roster that Nelson posted, and I
(re-)learned that it was Mike McHugh that was traded for Fenton.

I knew that...
