Okay, somebody out there with a rule book....

What's the difference between

A Game Misconduct
A Gross Misconduct
A Match Penalty

Please, don't speculate on this as I've heard many theories, if someone knows
the answer for a fact, please email me. Thanksa a bunch.

Game Ejection: an automatic penalty assesed to any player with a series
of Stick infractions during a game (slashing, cross-checking etc.)

Game Misconduct: conduct deemed detrimental to the game, in which the
official beleives the player shall not continue in the present game (no
disipinary action will follow)

Gross Misconduct: same as Game Misconduct however the incident is
reviewed by the diciplenary board for further action.

Match Penalty: most serious penalty in all of hockey, an automatic
suspension follows regardless of the diciplenary review. The commitee
will review the incident and then decide on Punishment. Usuall this is
abuse of an official (physical) or spitting on an official)

Game ejections are extremely rare. The amount of infractions
needed has changed every year in the past five years in the NHL. It has
been changed to the point where they are pretty much no longer called. In
minor hockey Game ejections are used frequently, match penalties are for
very, very serious incidents usually with an official.

Hope it helps,
