All time announcer's nightmare team

I was wondering if there are any teams in the NHL which announcers dread having
to call the play-by-play for. This lead me to wonder what the worst
case scenario would be, among all players ever drafted by NHL teams. I
thought this must come pretty close:

How are these names hard to pronounce? Those four of some of the easiest
to pronounce. By the way, it is Reekie.

I think the original poster had in mind that Ricci, Recchi and Reekie aren't
hard to pronounce, but are similar enough that they are just confusing.
I remember seeing a Habs, Lighting (I think) game on TSN, and the play by
play announcer had Recchi and Reekie backwards at some point.

coz you have so many exceptions to your rules of pronunciation.

Throw in Craig Johnson and Greg Johnson, (both #23 on different teams),
Federov, Fetisov, and some guy named Fedetov that I noticed in an NHL
book, as well as all those brothers out there. I'm sure someone listening
to the game on the radio would have no idea what was going on.
Ricci, Reeki, Recchi, Federov, Fedetov, Fetisov, Johnson (Greg) and
Johnson (Craig). Zoiks!

Most people pronounce it Ka-chuk'
Don Cherry pronounces it Tay' chuk
Therefore the first one must be right.

Berube is a favorite in our house. BA-ROO-BAY! BA-ROO-BAY! To which
someone invariably adds "Dive! Dive!". It all started because someone
noticed that Berube's name sounds a lot like the alarm that sounds (at
least in the movies) on submarines before it dives. And because his name
is usually said when he's checking someone, the "Dive!" part is even
funnier.
Another is Luc Robitaille. It must be pronounced "Luc Ro-ba-TIIIII!"
And let's not forget Uwe Kruppe.
As far as the pronounciations, I've always thought the French Canadians
were the worst. I'd hate to hear an announcer with a strong Texan accent
try some of those.
But hearing people try to say Kjell Samuelsson's first name is always
interesting.
Let's face it. The names are part of what makes hockey interesting!

The worse ones I have heard were most French names as said by anglophones (no offense
intended).
For example, Lemieux: the Pittsburg announcer says: "Lemioooooooouuuuuuu" (continue for
2-3 more lines) whenever he scores; Paul Boutilier (often pronounced "Boot-leer", where it
should be a'bit more like: "Boo-tee-lee-ay") Guy Lafleur (often pronounced Laflour,
Lafloor). You look at the NHL guide, and under several names, there is some kind of
prononciation guide: Robitaille is "Roh-buh-tigh", Lemieux is "Lehm-YOO".
Another funny one, is JIM DESHAIES, a baseball player. I believe he is american-born, and
his name is often pronounced "Day-chay" by commentators. French people pronounce it as if
it was two words, "day-hay", such as Des Haies, withtout adjoining the "SH". But you know
what, "day-chay", when pronounced that way, sounds like "déchets" (dechets with a "/" on
the first "e"), which means "garbage" in French.
I am sure that funny things also happen the other way around, I am just giving a different
perspective.

'KJ' is pronounced like the 'CH' in 'charter', but without the
't'-sound in the beginning.
and 'ell' is pronounced very much like the 'ell' in 'spell'.

Hockey names??
First of all, the great announcer Foster Hewitt could never pronouce Yvon
Cornoyer. Funnily, he could pronounce all the Russian names!
Somebody mentioned the surname "Deadmarsh." Meaning Adam Deadmarsh. I'm
going one-up on that by submitting the name Butch Deadmarsh of the Atlanta
Flames, and later the WHA, which was rife with great names.
