The NAHL draft was held monday (June 3rd). I have all the draft picks for
Cleveland, and only the 1st rounders for all the other teams. Does anyone have
any others? (like atlanta, etc.)

Now, the Barons drafted LaFontaine. WHY? He still has another year on his
contract.. ARGH!

So..

1. Hamilton: Erric Lindros, Center, Oshawa, OHL
2. Cincinnati: Jim Dowd, left Winger, Lake Superior State, CCHA
3. Atlanta: John Cullen, Hartford (NHL)
4. Cleveland: Pat LaFontaine, Islanders (NHL)
5. Indianapolis: Moe Lemay, Switzerland
6. Miami: Doug Brown, left winger, New Jersey (NHL

Here are the Barons draft choices (not in any order)
Forwards: Robin Bawa (Washington, NHL), Rick Bennett (Rangers, NHL), Jean Blouin
(Laval, Quebec Major Junior HL), Mark Russell (Michigan St., CCHA), Tom Chorske
(Montreal, NHL), Dino Ciccarelli (Washington, NHL), Tie Domi (Rangers, NHL),
Mike Donnelly (LA Kings, NHL), Dallas Drake (Northern Michigan, WCHA), Nelson
Emerson (St. Louis, NHL), Dan Gauthier (Knoxville, ECHL), Bill Guerin (Boston
College, Hockey East), Trevor Halverson (North Bay, OHL), Brett Harkins (Bowling
Green, CCHA), Donevan Hextall (Ohh, I'm hurt, Prince Albert, WHL), Benoit Hogue
(Buffalo, NHL), Ron Hoover (Boston, NHL), Bob Joyce (Winnipeg, NHL), Alen Kerr
(Detroit, NHL), Trent Klatt (U. Minnesota, WCHA), Pat LaFontaine (Islanders,
NHL), Alan May (Washington, NHL), Dean McAmmond (Prince Albert, WHL), Brian
MacLellan (Calgary, NHL), Mike Pomichter (Springfield, AHL), Barry Richter (U.
Wisconsin, WCHA), Scott Scissions (Saskatoon, WHL), Brendan Shanahan (New
Jersey, NHL), Darrin Shannon (New Jersey, NHL), Mike Stapleton (Indianapolis,
IHL), Brian Sullivan (Boston College, HE), Steve Tomas (Chicago, NHL), Dave
Tippett (Canadian National), Ryan Walter (Montreal, NHL), Simon Wheeldon
(Moncton, AHL).

Defense: Murray Baron (Philly, NHL), Jim Benning (Milwaukee, IHL), Rich Brennan
(Boston U., HE), Aris Brimanis (Bowling Green, CCHA (from Shaker Heights, my
home)), Todd Charlesworth (Muskegon, IHL), Rob Cowie (Northeastern, HE), Mario
Barbe (Edmonton, NHL), Denis Larocque (Moncton, AHL), Chris McAlpine (U.
Minnesota, WCHA), Chris Miller (Northern Michigan, WCHA), Tom Pederson (U.
Minnesota, WCHA), Brad Schlegel (Canadian National), Geoff Smith (Edmonton,
NHL), Tony Twist (Quebec, NHL), Darren Veitch (Peoria, IHL), Barcy Werenka
(Lethbridge, WHL), Chris Wolain (Illinois-Chicago, CCHA), Doug Zmolek (U.
Minnesota, WCHA)

Goalies: John Blue (Kalamazoo, IHL), Glen Hanlon (Detroit, NHL), Reggie Lemelin
(Boston, NHL), Andre Racicot (Fredericton, AHL), Eldon Reddick (Edmonton, NHL),
Kari Takko (Edmonton, NHL), Kay Whitmore (Springfield, AHL)

Whitmore is supposed to be the goalie of the future for the Hartford Whalers.
Getting him to sign would be a major steal. Also, both very-veteran goalies
Hanlon and Lemelin would be good choices.

Has there been any news on whether the NAHL or the CHA will be on
television anywhere? If they manage to snare some names, they may
well be worth watching. The WHA had all sorts of television woes, to
the point where members of the federal cabinet were called in to get
CBC to cover the Avco Cup finals. (CBC didn't want to piss off their
NHL hockey sponsor, Molson, and was stonewalling.)
