Pat Quinn is no dumby. The reason Rick Ley is still the head coach is
because Pat Quinn has no suitable replacement in mind a the moment. Rick
Ley will be fired if Vancouver continues to loose, and Quinn will have to
find someone. The Canucks played pretty good against Chicago Nov. 29,
1995 at GM place for a 2-2 tie. Rick Ley is better then no coach at all.
He has to shape up, and get players working and functioning as a team.
Remember Jim Sandlak was out, Gino Odjick was out, and Tikkenan did not
play from what I have heard. All the team needs to put a good show in
front of McLean for the next six to ten games, so he can get his
confidence back. He look good against Chicago. Remember the Canucks
suffer from Starism, that is they suffer from feeling inadaquate because
a major star player, Pavel Bure, is gone for the season. This can also be
called the disease of me, seeing Paval's loose as an excuse why a players
came is not where it should be. The only game the Canucks truly lost on
their recent road trip was in San Jose, all the others they gave 110%.
Remember a lose is a lose on paper, but it never shows how hard they
worked. Also keep in mind this is Rick Ley's first full season at the
helm. He has big shoes to fill by trying to take the team to the Stanley
Cup finals. No coach can win a game because utimetly it is the players
that win and loose games. Ley just sets the how it will be done, and the
attitude for the team.
