HA!! If you were a Sabres fan you wouldn't call Bodger a "good veteren
defenseman". Everyone in Buffalo gasped a sigh of relief to see Bodger
go. He's a defensive lapse wating to happen.
Alex
Yeah, and everyone in San Jose/Bay Area who was thinking with his
head and not his heart was happy to see that the Sharks could actually
get something for Falloon and was happy to see him go. I think they kept
him a bit too long, though.

When you watch Rathje, Sykora, Kroupa, More, Kyte, Pederson and Ragnarson
play "D" night after night, Bodger is a "good veteran defensemen.." Hell,
he looks like Ray Borque in Teal...:-)

Heh, I would've traded Falloon for some magic beans. And that's from
the heart.

Hey Alex:
Sorry it took so long for me to respond, but my server bogs
down once and awhile, about as fast as a Rathje rush.
At any rate, the deal is a good one for the Sharks because:
1) Falloon was a bust here and was going nowhere fast.
Any warm body that helps is a boon.
2) Jay More is the Sharks best defenseman. Draw your
own conclusions.
3) The D the Sharks have are, by and large, good
players, but way too young, and an experienced
player like Bodger will help them develop.
4) Bodger isn't as bad as you think.
Cheers...
-Frank
True. He's still a prospect though, and worth more than Bodger.
: Any warm body that helps is a boon.
For now, maybe.
: 2) Jay More is the Sharks best defenseman. Draw your

Bodger isn't much, if at all, better.
: 3) The D the Sharks have are, by and large, good
: players, but way too young, and an experienced
: player like Bodger will help them develop.
Help them by showing them new and ever more creative ways to cough up the
puck in his own zone.
: 4) Bodger isn't as bad as you think.
I've watched him on a nightly basis for 8 seasons. If anything, he's
worse than I've stated.

I don't quite agree with this, just that he's not worth what was given

Again I think this is going too far, but they could have had Zettler and
Macoun from Toronto for just the 1st rounder

I think Bodger is preety good, but what did you give for a pretty good
defenceman?

Alex:
Sorry it took so long to respond, but my server seems to blow
up every other day, so posts come dribbling in about as fast as a Mike
Rathje rush.
He may have fallen into disfavor in Buffalo, but the Sharks
still came up good on this one because:
1) It's Falloon that was moved. The fact that they
obtained a warm body for him was a victory,
let alone a badly needed D of Bodger's ability
2) Regardless of how bad you may feel Bodger is, he's
Orr compared to the rest of the Sharks' D.
Not that the Sharks have bad players there,
they're just young, and Bodger can teach them
many things at this stage of their development
3) Bodger isn't as bad as you think...
Cheers!
