Does anyone know of any hockey skates that could fit someone with a wide
foot? I am trying to get into some ice hockey, but can't seem to find a
good skate. I haven't had much problem with inline skates, but ice
hockey skates seem to be different. I wear an 10 1/2 EEE shoe size.
I tried on a pair of 8 EE Kohos (can't remember the model number), and
they fit, but apparently the tongue wouldn't close properly, and so the
guy at the pro shop didn't recommend I buy them. Any help woud be
appreciated, thanks.

I wear a 11 EEE with a high instep which fits nicely into Bauer's Supreme
line in size 10 EE

Do you mean you wear a size 11 EEE regular shoe size? I'm nearly an 11 (10
1/2) but the pro shop guy got me a size 8 skate, and he even said that I'm
more a 7. So I'm pretty confused right now.

Its also funny you mentioned Bauers, because the pro shop guy recommended I
didn't buy Bauers because they weren't designed for larger feet (They sell
Bauers, I'm not sure if they sell the Supreme line, but their an authorzed
reseller apparently) Maybe I need a second opinion.

Thanks.

Skate sizes are a couple sizes down from shoes. My 11 translates to a
9.

It's more the shape. If you get a Bauer EEE width, it'll be wide. The
shape is what is different.

Hi Patrick,

I have had the same problem all my life. I have a 9 1/2 EEE foot,
resulting in trouble when buying shoes, skates, etc... I exclusively by
CCM skates. Both my ice and roller blades are CCM. They run wider than
Bauer. My local shop also cautioned me against Bauers, because they run
narrower than CCMs. I have always been able to find a pair that fit. I
use 652's for ice, and an old pair of 555's for roller. Both are very
comfortable.

I wear an 11 EEE shoe. You usually end up taking a smaller size in a
skate.

The model line also makes a difference. for instance a EE in the Bauer
Supreme line is wider than in a Bauer Vapor line or CCM Tack line.

i have worked in a hockey shop for the last sevn years. Bauer supreme skates
do not run wider than CCM skates. To compare the brands\models they run as
follows from narrow to wide:
------------------------------------------------------------|
Buaer vapor--new vapor ten is wider than older models | narrower
Bauer supreme
| than av.
------------------------------------------------------------
Mission
Koho average
Nike
-------------------------------------------------------------
Easton
Graf slightly wider than average
------------------------------------------------------------
CCM wider than average

All companies make different widths in their skates this is a compareison
between the same widths.

I have yet to be able to get a CCM wide enough for my foot. I agree with
you when comparing the standard D width between the two brands but when you
get into the wider width this is not the case.

Each individual will have to try on a few different brands and models to
find what suits them best.
