Just wondering how many of you wear skates without socks? What are your
comments and opinions?

One of my good friends skates without socks and he loves it. He said that
it gives him a better feel for the ice, and he will never again be able to
skate with socks. I personaly have never tried it.

Just remember to try them without the socks when you buy the skates.
Or they will be too loose. For hygenics you are better off with a
thin pair of socks, the insides will not rot as quick. I referee local
house league hockey with a lad with two pair of skates one for each play
and refing. He wears whatever socks he has on, and takes the bottom of
the skates out after each use. He figures he will get around two years
out of a pair of
skates. He ref's and plays around 20-30 hours a week, we had a discussion
about not wearing socks and he figures the skates would disintegrate quicker

i have played ice hockey for the last four years or so without socks. i have
the molded skates with the felt booties, though -- so it seems kind of like
socks to bare feet. i can't really remember what it is like to skate wearing
socks (even during rec skating i don't wear any), but i recall that when i
switched from socks to no socks it was a big difference -- gave me more
control. don't know why, however.

do know that the booties end up smelling like ten bear after a game...

I have skated without socks and it is cool except it stinks the hell out
of your skates and sooner or later your team will make you put them on
because of the stench. Just thought I'd share that. 8)
