[AHL] Baltimore Skipjacks??

Please excuse my ignorance, but whatever happened to the Caps farm team,
the Baltimore Skipjacks. I know they were still around after I left
school in 1989.

They were replaced by the Portland Pirates. Since I don't follow the Caps
farm system,I can't tell you if it's the same organization that moved,or
if it's a different one.

I believed they went up north and became the Portland Pirates.

The Skipjacks left Baltimore and moved to become the Portland Pirates.
They still remain the farm team of the Capitals. They also won the
league championship two years ago.

BTW there is a new AHL team that will start in Baltimore next season.

The Skipjacks did move to Portland and became the Pirates.
They are the same owners.

The new AHL team in Baltimore are the Bandits and will be the farm team of
the Mighty Ducks.
