A couple of years ago, in an international tournament
Pakistan defeated and demolished Macau 55-0.
I was wondering if any other match produced a more spectacular
score.

Generally, a score like this reflects very poor coaching and guidance --
especially at the junior level. After the score was 5-0, my goodness, after
it was 10-0, and 20-0, where was the direction? Why weren't special
conditions put on the team like not allowing the team to attack unless the
ball was passed to each team member consecutively (including the
goalkeeper)? What happened at half time when even under the strictest of
bench control during the playing time the coach could have given the team
guidance? It is disturbing that these you players from Pakistan had to have
such a game as part of their hockey past forever. I feel sorry for each and
everyone of them.

well, this summer when I played on theask provincial team in the Canadian
under-21 nationals, we lost to BC 18-0. For a fullback, that is pretty
damn embarassing. I really wouldn't want to imagine 55-0. What does the 'keeper
say to his fullbacks after the 41st goal? "OK guys, let's hold 'em to under 50"

Well, if we look back by a few decades, India beat the United States 24-0
in the 1928 Olympics held at Amsterdam.

Is this correct? I remember having read about some tournament
(perhaps the one being talked about) with some pathetic team (Macau?)
getting skinned. But I think Pakistan pumped over 60/70 goals into
them, after India had been content with 50+.

The tournament did not involve senior national sides I think.
The matches were not formally considered 'internationals'.

Am I thinking of the same tournament as you are?

This was sometime in the mid-80s I think.

This was in the 1932 Olympics in Los Angeles. India also beat Japan 11-0 or so.
There were only three teams in the competition.
