Also Aptos Seascape is not a very good course. It is short (4 reachable par
5's), expensive $50+ (not including a cart), and not particularly scenic (OK
at best). As a result it is not all that challenging and I would skip it.
Pasetiempo is 10x better course for an extra $25. Pasetiempo is ALWAYS in
immaculate condition.
De Lavega is much better and cheaper. De Laveage is/was the host for the
Santa Cruz open which is sometime soon (or just past) and is in very good shape.
Also you said you were going to be in the SF bay area. The best MUNI course
in the Bay area (actually in San Jose) is Santa Teresa. All day rate $30-$40
(plus cart) meaning you can re-round for free. Good course, good shape.
Pajaro Valley in Watsonville (20 minutes from Aptos Seascape toward Monterey)
is better than Aptos and about the same price (maybe a little cheaper).
It is not particularly scenic and it has two dumb holes in a row (numbers
6 & 7) but the rest of the course, especially the back nine is pretty good.
If you are actually planning to drive the 30+ minutes from San Jose to
Aptos then just keep driving and go to Monterey. Poppy Hills, SpyGlass, and
Pebble Beach are truely excellent golf experiences. They are expensive but
worth it (at least once). The gem of the Monterey pennisula (in terms of
price/performance) is Pacific Grove which you can play on the weekend for $38.
The front nine is a little boring but the back nine is very scenic. The
course is very easy, but the view and price is unbeatable.
